Watermelon Bulky Yarn Baby Hat Free Pattern

Looking for a cute crochet fruit hat to make? This cute Baby Watermelon Hat Crochet Pattern is the perfect project!

I love crocheting for babies and baby hats are one of my favorites because they are so quick and easy to make.No matter what the pattern is they simply turn out so adorable.

Use a Bulky yarn and make this Watermelon Crochet hat in just a couple of hours.

Materials Used:-
  • Bulky Yarn( Red and Green)
  • 5 mm Crochet Hook

It is always good to be sure you are going on the right track by counting your stitches at end of each round. Each round should increase by the same number of stitches you started with.

For example if you start your round with 12 stitches, then the increasing number of stitches will be as stated below:-

Round 1    - 12 Stitches
Round 2 - 24 Stitches(+12)
Round 3 - 36 Stitches(+12)
Round 4 - 48 Stitches(+12)
Round 5 - 60 Stitches(+12)
Round 6 - 72 Stitches(+12)
.....and so on....

And the pattern for increasing the stitches will be in a uniform way as mentioned below:-

Round 1--Start with a magic ring, make 12 DC(Double Crochet) (12)
Round 2--2DC around (24)
Round 3--DC1, 2DC in next stitch(36)
Round 4--DC 2, 2DC in next stitch(48)
Round 5--DC 3, 2DC in next stitch(60)
Round 6--DC 4, 2DC in next stitch(72)
 .....and so on.

Lets start with the hat.

Round 1:-
Start with a magic circle

Make 12 Double Crochet in the circle. Pull the loose end to close the gap.Make sure to pull it tight.

Start Each Round with a Standing Double Crochet.

Round 2:-
Make 2 Double Crochet in each stitch around.(24)
Slip stitch at end to join.

Round 3
*DC1, 2DC* in next stitch(36)
Slip stitch at end to join.
Repeat from * to *.
Round 4:-
*DC2, 2DC* in next stitch(48)
Slip stitch at end to join.
Repeat from * to *.

Now for next rounds make 1 DC in each stitch around.

Slip stitch at end to join.

Keep working 1 DC in each stitch till you reach the length required.

For the last 2 rounds change your yarn to green.

For finishing the cap add a pom pom at the top. Check out Yarn Pom Pom Using Your Fingers.
