How to make a Vase from Cardboard Roll - Best Out of Waste Idea

Do you throw those round tubes of cardboard which comes with your tissue paper roll or the aluminium foil roll? What if we could make some decorative projects with them!!....Sounds interesting ...right!!!!

I love to explore the creative potential in waste or reusable items and Its always a fun idea to convert those waste rolls into something innovative and useful. Some of the things that would otherwise end up in the dustbin make great materials for craft projects that can be made into interesting and beautiful DIY crafts at home.

Creating new things out of waste is very satisfying and ever since I started making craft out of recycled materials, I have developed a habit of saving things and am on the constant look out for ideas to turn them crafty and productive.

The possibilities are almost endless!

So come, let your creative side unleashed and turn the waste into art!!!!

Materials Used:-

  • Cardboard Tube( which you can get from aluminium wraps)
  • Glue
  • Tissue Paper
  • Air Dry Clay
  • Water
  • Waste CD
  • Acrylic paint

Start by mixing Glue and Water in one is to one ratio.

With a brush , paste the tissue paper on to the roll using this mixture.

Crumple the tissue before pasting it to the roll.

This gives the texture.

Do the same on to the CD as well.

Let it dry completely.

Once it's dried off, paint it with acrylic Bronze colour.

Now with the help of glue, paste the roll on to the CD.

For making the leaves, roll the clay into  a thin strip.

Cut it into diamond shapes with your clay tool.

Now, this is a awesome idea of making leaves with the handle of razor which I saw on Pinterest.

Gently press the back handle of the razor to the clay.

Gently peel it off the razor.See.... you get a nice impression on the leaves.

Shape your leaves by cutting of the loose ends if any.

Roll out one more strip. With this we will make the base of the vase.

Fold it into two equal parts and twist them together.Paste it to the base  of the tube.

Time to make the flowers for decoration.
I used a flower plunger to make flowers.

Paste it to the tube.

Once dried, paint the flowers and leaves.

Let it dry off completely....and there you go...your vase is ready to use!!!!
Be proud of your creation!!!!!
