Make Your Own Rectangle Crochet Basket

This Rectangle Crochet Basket pattern is a great option for organization and storage. They are great for storing anything from hand towels.....toys....your crochet supplies and most of your other utilities.

I have used Bulky Yarn to make this Basket. You you can trying making one with any yarn of your choice...... Chunky Yarn..... Macrame Chord....Jute Twine... or just use Three strands of yarn to give it a bulky texture. Just remember to change the hook size according to the yarn you would like to use.

You can easily adjust the size of this basket according to your needs. Just change the starting number of Chain Stitches to make it bigger or smaller.

Materials Used:-
  • Bulky Yarn
  • 6mm Crochet Hook

Round 1:-
Start with a slip knot.
Chain 11.
1 Single Crochet in the 2nd Chain from the Hook.
1 Single Crochet in rest of the stitches untill the last stitch.
3 Single Crochet in the last stitch.
Continue working on the opposite side.
1 single each in rest of the stitches untill the last stitch.
3 Single Crochet in the last stitch.
Slip stitch on top of the 1st Single Crochet to end the round.

1 Single Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Single Crochet each in rest of the stitches untill you reach the turning 3 Single Crochets.
3 Single Crochets and mark the 2nd stitch with a stitch marker.
This would be the stitch for making the increase in the next round.
1 Single Crochet in the next Stitch.
3 Single Crochets in the next stitch.
Again mark the 2nd stitch with a marker.
Continue with 1 Single Crochet in the remaining stitches untill the next turning 3 Single Crochets.
Repeat the same on this side too.
3 Single Crochets and mark.(Mark the middle stitch)
1 Single Crochet in the next Stitch.
3 Single Crochets in the next stitch.(Mark the middle stitch)
Slip Stitch on top 1st Single Crochet.

Round 3 on wards:-
Keep Repeating round 2 untill you reach the size needed.
I made the base to 8''/4'' in size.

Just Remember :-
  • Start each round with Chain 1(Not Counted as a Stitch, 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch.
  • Mark each corner stitch.
  • 3 Single Crochets in the marked corner stitches.
  • As the size of the rectangle grows, the Single Crochets between the marked stitches will keep increasing.

Turning Side Base of the Basket:-
Start with Chain 1.(Not Counted as a stitch)
1 Backloop Single Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Backloop Single Crochet in the remaining stitches.
Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Single Crochet to end the round.

Sides of the Basket:-

Start with Chain 1(Not Counted as Stitch)
1 Single Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Single Crochet each in the reaming stitches.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Single Crochet to end the round.
Keep repeating untill the required size.

Border Round:-

I used Reverse Single Crochet to make the Border. This gives the Basket a Textured Finish.

Start the round with Chain 1,
1 Reverse single crochet in the rest of the stitches.
Weave off the yarn ends.......... and they are ready to be used....!!!!!!!

This stitch is similar to the standard single crochet, but instead of inserting your hook in the next stitch to your "RIGHT" you insert your hook into the next stitch to the "LEFT" and create your Single Crochet stitch there.

To make a Reverse Single Crochet:-
  1. Insert your hook in the next stitch to the right.
  2. Yarn over, and draw the yarn through the stitch.
  3. Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook.
