Crochet Christmas Tablemat

Crochet this super fun placemat for your table this Christmas! This will surely make a beautiful addition to your holiday decorations.

This table mat is pretty easy and quick to make and will look gorgeous on your dining table as a centre piece or you can use it on your side or coffee table. This would also make beautiful gifts for your loved ones!!!

This Tablemat is made using simple Double Crochet stitches. The Border is made with Shell Stitches with Picot edging.

I do hope you enjoy making this for your Holiday Decorations!!!!

Materials Used:-
  • 8 Ply Yarn( Red and Green Color)
  • 4mm Crochet Hook

This Table mat is worked in a Square Pattern. I have already posted a step by step photo tutorial of Solid Granny Square Coaster without Gaps. Check it out Here.

Let Get Started.....!!!!

Start with the Red Color Yarn.

Round 1:-

Start with a Magic Circle.

Chain 2.
This doesn't count as a stitch. This is just to bring the yarn to the same height.

12 Double Crochet in the circle.

Slip stitch on top of the first Double crochet. Pull the yarn end to close the circle.

Round 2:-
Start with a Standing Double Crochet. Check out the tutorial for Standing Double Crochet.

Double Crochet in the same stitch.

Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.

Double Crochet in the next stitch.

Repeat *(5DC,1DC,1DC)* in rest of the stitches.

Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet to end the round.

Round 3:-

Start with a Standing Double Crochet.

1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.

1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.

You Should reach the corner now.

Double Crochet in the corner stitch.

Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches untill you reach the next corner.

5 Double Crochet in the corner stitch.
Repeat all around.
Slip stitch to end the round.

Keep repeating Round 3 untill you reach the size you need.

Just remember :-

  • Start Each round with Standing Double Crochet.
  • One DC(Double Crochet) in each stitch untill you reach the Corner.
  • The Corners will have 5DC(Double Crochet).
  • Slip Stitch to end the Round.

I repeated it 4 times.

Once you reach the size you need, change to Green Color Yarn while making the Slip Stitch.

The Last round will be the Border Edging.

1 Single Crochet.

Skip a stitch, 5 DC(Double Crochet) in the next stitch.

Skip 1 Stitch , 1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.

Repeat(5DC,Skip 1 stitch, 1 Single Crochet, Skip 1 Stitch)* untill you reach the corner.

3 Double Crochet in the Corner Stitch.
Chain 3
Slip Stitch in the First Chain.( This is Picot Stitch made)
3 Double Crochet in same stitch.

Continue with the Shell stitch all around.
Slip stitch to end the round.

Weave in the yarn ends and Block it if needed.

Your Christmas Tablemat is ready to adore your Holiday Decorations!!!!!
