Super Easy Crochet Beanie Hat With Shell Stitch Part of the Hat of the Month Club CAL 2024

Crochet hats and Beanies are one of the most fun to make projects. They are awesomely super quick to make. This makes them a favorite among many crocheters. They make a great yarn stash buster project. They are absolutely great for Gift Giving and Charity Projects.

Crocheted Hats are versatile. Even the most basic Crochet Stitch makes a lovely textured Hat. Its a great choice for Beginners.

Today am sharing the pattern for Super Easy Crochet Beanie Hat With Shell Stitch. I made this as Part of the Hat of the Month Club CAL 2024.This Crochet Shell Stitch Hat pattern is perfect for Fall or Spring Season. I love the Crochet Shell Stitch. Its a beautiful stitch pattern which creates a unique Scalloped finish.

Materials Used:-
8 Ply Cotton Yarn  -1 Skein 
5 mm Crochet Hook

Size:- 6 Inches Height , 7 Inches Brim - Can be customized to any size

Notes:-
  • For this whole Pattern, instead of the usual the Starting Chain 2 to start the next round  we will be using the Stacked Single Crochet .
  • The Stacked Single Crochet will be counted as a Double Crochet.
  • With the Stacked Single Crochet , you will have a neat seamless finish.

Lets Start ...!!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch)
12 Double Crochets in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
12 Stitches.

Round 2:-
Start with a Stacked Single Crochet - This will be counted as a Double Crochet.
1 Double Crochet into the same Stitch.
2 Double Crochets each in the remaining stitches.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
24 stitches.

How to Make the Stacked Single Crochet.....??? Here it is :-
  1. Start with a regular  Single Crochet in the 1st stitch.
  2. Insert your hook into the 1st Vertical Leg of the Single Crochet , Yarn Over and Pull up a loop - 2 loops on the hook.
  3. Yarn over and Pull through the 2 loops.
  4. That's 1 Stacked Single Crochet made.

Round 3:-
Start with a Stacked Single Crochet - This will be counted as a Double Crochet.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC, 2DC).
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
36 Stitches.

Round 4:-
Start with a Stacked Single Crochet - This will be counted as a Double Crochet.
1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC*2, 2DC)
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
48 Stitches.

If you wish to change the size of the Hat ,then follow the below mentioned increase pattern:-

Start each round with Chain 2(Not counted as a stitch) 
Round 5--DC 3, 2DC in next stitch(60)
Round 6--DC 4, 2DC in next stitch(72)
 .....and so on.

Round 5:-
Chain 1 - Not Counted as a Stitch.
1 Single Crochet in the first stitch.
Skip 2 stitches.
5 Double Crochets in the next stitch.(this will make the Shell Stitch)
Skip 2 Stitches.
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Skip 2.
Repeat(5DC,Sk2,1 SC)
Slip Stitch into the 1st Single Crochet.

Round 6:-
Chain 2 - Not Counted as a Stitch.
1 Shell Stitch(i.e.5 Double Crochets) in the 1st stitch.
1 Single Crochet on top of the Shell Stitch i.e. the 3rd stitch.
1 Shell Stitch (i.e 5 Double Crochets) in the next Single Crochet in between the 2 Shell stitches.
Repeat(1 SC (on top of the Shell) , 1 Shell St(in the SC in between the 2 Shells))
Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.

Round 7:-
1 Slip Stitch each into the next 2 stitches.(you  will reach the middle stitch i.e the 3rd Stitch)
Chain 1.
1 Single Crochet.
1 Shell Stitch (i.e 5 Double Crochets) in the next Single Crochet in between the 2 Shell stitches.
1 Single Crochet on top of the Shell Stitch i.e. the 3rd stitch.
Repeat( 1 Shell St(in the SC in between the 2 Shells),1 SC (on top of the Shell))
Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Single Crochet.

Round 8 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 6 and Round 7 untill its around 5 to 6 inches in size and weave off.

You can use the Beanie Hat as it is you you can use any Applique of Embellishment of your choice.
I used a Sunflower Applique . Use a Yarn Needle to sew in the Applique

Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Ch 2(Not Counted as a St)
12 DCs in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
SL on top of the first DC.
12 Sts.

Round 2:-
Start with a Stacked SC - This will be counted as a DC.
1 DC into the same St.
2 DCs each in the remaining Sts.
SL on top of the first DC.
24 Sts.

How to Make the Stacked SC.....??? Here it is :-
Start with a regular  SC in the 1st St.

Yarn over and Pull through the 2 loops.
That's 1 Stacked SC made.

Round 3:-
Start with a Stacked SC - This will be counted as a DC.
2 DCs in the next St.
Repeat*(1DC,2DC).
SL on top of the first DC.
36 Sts.

Round 4:-
Start with a Stacked SC - This will be counted as a DC.
1 DC in the next St.
2 DCs in the next St.
Repeat*(1DC*2,2DC)
SL on top of the first DC.
48 Sts.

If you wish to change the size of the Hat ,then follow the below mentioned increase pattern:-
Start each round with Ch 2(Not counted as a St) 
Round 5--DC 3, 2DC in next St(60)
Round 6--DC 4, 2DC in next St(72)

Round 5:-
Ch 1 - Not Counted as a St.

SL into the 1st SC.

Round 6:-
Ch 2 - Not Counted as a St.
1 Shell St(i.e.5 DCs) in the 1st St.
1 SC on top of the Shell St i.e. the 3rd St.
1 Shell St (i.e 5 DCs) in the next SC in between the 2 Shell Sts.
Repeat(1 SC (on top of the Shell) , 1 Shell St(in the SC in between the 2 Shells))
SL on top of the 1st DC.

Round 7:-
1 SL each into the next 2 Sts.(you  will reach the middle St i.e the 3rd St)
Ch 1.
1 SC.
1 Shell St (i.e 5 DCs) in the next SC in between the 2 Shell Sts.
1 SC on top of the Shell St i.e. the 3rd St.
Repeat( 1 Shell St(in the SC in between the 2 Shells),1 SC (on top of the Shell))
SL on top of the 1st SC.

Round 8 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 6 and Round 7 untill its around 5 to 6 inches in size and weave off.
