This is my Stash Busting project.I had a bunch of light weighted yarns which I had almost never used. So since last few days , I have been busy whipping up some placemats....tablemats and Coasters.
To be frank I actually had tried making coaster with those light weighted yarns....but they weren't sturdy. So I resorted to using 3 strands at a time. But pulling the yarn from three skeins of yarn turned out to be bit messy. My Yarns were all tangled. So I took help of our saviour....Google......And of course...there were many Crocheters and Knitters who had shared their ideas of using only one skein of yarn to pull 3 strands of yarn. This is a fool proof method.
Materials Used:-
- Any light weight Yarn
- 4mm Crochet Hook( you can change the hook size according to the thickness of the yarn)
Lay your yarn into a "S" shape.
The starting point of the yarn should be on the Right side and the working ball of yarn should be on Left side.
Now pull the working yarn from inside the loop, which will again give you three strands to work with.
Keep doing this once you reach the end of the loop.
I love this method. You can keep crocheting without getting into tangles.
Let's start with the pattern for the Coaster!!!!
Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
12 Double Crochet into the ring.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
While making the slip stitch, change color.
Round 2:-
Chain 5.
1 Single Crochet into the next stitch.
Repeat*(Chain 5, 1 SC)
Once you reach the end,Chain 2 and 1 Double Crochet in the next Chain space.
Round 3:-
Repeat round 2 till you reach the end.
Once you reach the end, make the last chain 5, and slip stitch on top of Double Crochet.
Change color while making the slip stitch.
Round 4:-Chain 2.(Not Counted as a stitch).
5 Double Crochet into the chain space.
Repeat*(5DC) in the chain spaces and slip stitch on top of the first Double crochet to end the round.
Round 5:-
Chain 3,
Skip 1 stitch,
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat*(Chain 3,Skip 1,1SC)
Slip stitch and weave off the yarn.
If you want, you can increase the size of this coaster by repeating Round 2 for 3 to 4 times and continue with the succeeding rounds.
Love your patterns and directions!
