Super Easy and Quick Crochet Doily Placemat


Bring a fresh and elegant look to your table with this pretty Easy and Quick Crochet Placemat pattern. Handmade Crochet Placemats feel so comforting and welcoming and they always bring a personal touch to your table settings.

This Crochet Placemat pattern is worked in simple Double Crochet rounds. You can easily make this in any size of your choice by repeating the increase rounds. I have added a simple border round of Picot stitch which gives the placemat a chic and delicate look. Let your imagination flow, and make these in any combination of colors. These would also make great gifts for your loved ones.



Materials Used:-

  • 4 Ply Cotton Knitting Yarn
  • 4mm Crochet Hook


Size:-
12 Inches- Can be customized to any size.

Notes:-
For this whole Pattern, the Starting Chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. It is Just to bring the yarn to a working height. Start the next stitch in the same stitch.

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
12 Double Crochets in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
12 Stitches.

Round 2:-
Chain 2.
2 Double Crochets in each stitch around.
Instead of inserting your hook only on top of the stitch, yarn over and insert your hook under the whole stitch.(i.e in between the two stitches)- Follow the same for the whole pattern.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
24 stitches.

Round 3:-
Chain 2. 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC, 2DC).
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
36 Stitches.

Round 4:-
Chain 2. 
1 Double Crochet each in 2 stitches.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC*2, 2DC)
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
48 Stitches.
Round 5:-
Chain 2. 
1 Double Crochet each in 3 stitches.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC*3 2DC)
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
60 Stitches.
Round 6:-
Chain 2. 
1 Double Crochet each in 4 stitches.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC*4 2DC)
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
72 Stitches.
Round 7:-
Chain 2. 
1 Double Crochet each in 5 stitches.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC*5 2DC)
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
84 Stitches.
Round 8:-
Chain 2. 
1 Double Crochet each in 6 stitches.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC*6 2DC)
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
96 Stitches.

I Stopped with the increases with this round. If you wish to make your placemat bigger, then continue with the increase rounds till the size needed.

Start each round with Chain 2(Not counted as a stitch)
Round 9--DC*7, 2DC in next stitch(108) 
Round 10--DC*8, 2DC in next stitch(120)
Round 11--DC*9, 2DC in next stitch(132)
 .....and so on.
Round 9:-
Chain 5
Skip 2 stitches
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat(Ch5,Skip 2, 1SC)

Round 10:-
Slip stitch into the Chain space. Change Color while making the slip stitch.
Chain 2.
7 Double Crochets.
1 Single Crochet in the next Chain space.
Repeat(7DC, 1 SC(in next space)
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
Change color while making the slip stitch.


Border:-
Chain 5
1 Single Crochet into the 4th Double Crochet.
Chain 3 Picot in the same stitch.
Chain 5
1 Slip Stitch into the next Single Crochet.
Repeat(Ch5,1SC into the 4th DC, Ch3 Picot, Ch5,1SL).
Weave off.
