Raised Square Crochet Blanket Motif


Crochet Square Blocks or Crochet Afghan Blocks and Crochet Motifs are the simplest and the most versatile patterns to whip up. There are many different ways to transform and tweak the crochet square. You can use these crochet squares to make a crochet blankets, pillows, crocheted bags , placemats and tablemats, crocheted dishcloths and so much more. The possibilities are just endless. 

Here is the pattern for a quick and very easy Raised Square Crochet Blanket Motif. This Crochet square works up super quick and they can be made to any size as required. You can join and crochet them into any project of your choice. Join them together to make a pretty and snuggly comfort blanket or If you are not keen on making a join as you go blanket, you can also keep making the repeat rounds to make a large size crocheted blanket. Either way , Crochet Square blankets are fun to make. Join up the squares to make blankets of any size or simply use it individually as crochet coasters or crochet potholders.




Materials Used:-
8 Ply Cotton Variegated Yarn
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
10 inches Block- Customizable to any size

Notes:-
For this whole Pattern, the Starting Chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. It is Just to bring the yarn to a working height. Start the next stitch in the same stitch.

Lets Start...!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Chain 2 - Not Counted as a stitch
2 Double Crochets.
Chain 1.
Repeat(2DC, Ch 1) untill you have total Four corners.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.


Round 2:-
Chain 2.
1 Front Post Double Crochet each in 2 stitches.
While making the first Front Post Double Crochet , insert the hook and pull up a loop through the Chain 2 as well. This will give a neat finish to the blanket.
3 Double Crochets in the chain 1 space.
Mark the middle stitch i.e. the 2nd stitch with a stitch marker. This is the first Corner and this is the stitch where we will be making the increase in the next round.
Repeat((1FPDC in each stitch untill the corner) , 3DC in the Chain Space))
Slip stitch on top of the first stitch.

How to make a Front Post Double Crochet...??:-
Yarn Over and  insert your hook from front to back to front around the post of the  stitch.
Finish the stitch as the normal Double Crochet , i.e .Yarn Over and pull up a loop, Yarn Over and pull through 2 loops on your hook, Yarn Over and  pull through remaining two loops on your hook.



Round 3:-
Chain 2.
1 Back Post Double Crochet in each stitch untill you reach the corner i.e the marked stitch.
While making the first Back Post Double Crochet , insert the hook and pull up a loop through the Chain 2 as well. This will give a neat finish to the blanket.
3 Double Crochets in the marked stitch i.e. the middle stitch.
Mark the new corner i.e.the 2nd stitch with a stitch marker.
Repeat((1BPDC in each stitch untill the corner) , 3DC in the marked stitch i.e. the 2nd stitch))
Slip stitch on top of the first stitch.

How to make a Back Post Double Crochet...??:-
Yarn Over and  insert your hook from Back to front to back around the post of the stitch.
Finish the stitch as the normal Double Crochet , i.e .Yarn Over and pull up a loop, Yarn Over and pull through 2 loops on your hook, Yarn Over and  pull through remaining two loops on your hook.



Round 4 Onwards:-
Keep Repeating Round 2 and  Round 3 untill the size needed and weave off.
For making a Crochet Blanket Motif make it up to 10 inches.
Make a bunch of them and sew them together to make a pretty crocheted blanket.
If you wish you can  also make a large blanket by repeating these rounds untill the size needed.






Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-


Round 1:-

Round 3:-

1 BP DC in each St untill you reach the corner i.e the marked St.
While making the first BP DC , insert the hook and pull up a loop through the Ch 2 as well. This will give a neat finish to the blanket.
3 DCs in the marked St i.e. the middle St.
Mark the new corner i.e.the 2nd St with a St marker.
Repeat((1BPDC in each St untill the corner) , 3DC in the marked St i.e. the 2nd St))
Slip St on top of the first St.

Round 4 Onwards:-
