Easy and Simple Crochet Table Runner Pattern


Creating and making up something handmade is always special. Crocheting handmade projects definitely brings up that awesome feeling no matter how skilled you are at crocheting or a complete beginner. You don't need a reason to make a crochet project when its one of your favorite hobbies.

If you are looking for a handmade touch for your home decor and dining table, then here it is. Today am sharing the pattern for a very Easy and Simple Crochet Table Runner. You can also use this stitch pattern for making various other crochet projects like Crochet Placemats , Doilies ,Tablemats.

Crochet Table runners are an easy way to change the look of your table. Not only this but they also make a fantastic crochet gift for any occasion around of the year.
You can use a self striping yarn or variegated yarn with color repeats or make it in a solid vibrant color.




Materials Used:-
4 Ply Cotton Knitting Yarn
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
9 inches Base - Customizable to any size

Lets Start ...!!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 40 + 1 Chain for the turning chain.
The base measures around 9 inches.
You can adjust the size of the blanket by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any multiple of 4 + 1 chain extra for the turning chain.


Round 2:-
1 Double Crochet in the Second Chain from the hook.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.







Round 3:-
1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.(that's total 4 Double Crochets)
Chain 3.
Skip 3 stitches.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 4 Stitches.
Repeat(Chain 3, Skip 3, (1DC)*4)
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain mentioned in the previous round to make the turning chain.






Round 4:-
1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.(that's total 4 Double Crochets)
1 Front Post Treble Crochet on the 2nd Stitch(i.e.the middle stitch) of Round 2(i.e.the row of Double Crochets)
Chain 1.
1 Front Post Treble Crochet in the same stitch(i.e. the 2nd Stitch of Round 2)
Repeat((1DC)*4,((1 FPTR, Chain 1, 1 FPTR)-all in the same stitch))
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain to make the turning chain.

How to make a Front Post Treble Crochet??...here it is.....!!
  • Yarn over hook twice, Insert the hook under the stitch i.e from the front of the stitch to the back of the stitch and  Pull up a loop(4 loops on hook). 
  • Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops remain on hook). 
  • Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook).
  • Yarn over, pull 2 loops on hook (1 treble crochet complete).










Round 5:-
1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.(that's total 4 Double Crochets)
1 Double Crochet on the Treble Crochet.
1 Double Crochet into the Chain 1 Space.
1 Double Crochet on the Treble Crochet.
Repeat((1DC)*4, 1 DC(on trbl) , 1DC(into Chain space), 1DC(on trbl))
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain to make the turning chain.



Round 6:-
1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain
1 Double Crochet in each of the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain to make the turning chain.



Round 7 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round  3, 4 , 5 and 6 untill the size needed and weave off.








Here is the Summary of the Pattern:- 

Round 1:-

1 DC each in the next 4 Sts.
Repeat(Ch 3, Skip 3, (1DC)*4)
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch mentioned in the previous round to make the turning Ch.

Round 4:-
1 DC is already made while making the turning Ch
1 DC each in the next 3 Sts.(that's total 4 DCs)
1 FPTR on the 2nd St(i.e.the middle St) of Round 2(i.e.the row of DCs)
Ch 1.
1 FPTR in the same St(i.e. the 2nd St of Round 2)
Repeat((1DC)*4,((1 FPTR, Ch 1, 1 FPTR)-all in the same St))
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch to make the turning Ch.

How to make a FPTR??...here it is.....!!
Yarn over hook twice, Insert the hook under the St i.e from the front of the St to the back of the St and  Pull up a loop(4 loops on hook). 
Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops remain on hook). 
Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook).
Yarn over, pull 2 loops on hook (1 treble crochet complete).

Round 5:-
1 DC is already made while making the turning Ch
1 DC each in the next 3 Sts.(that's total 4 DCs)
1 DC on the Treble Crochet.
1 DC into the Ch 1 Space.
1 DC on the Treble Crochet.
Repeat((1DC)*4, 1 DC(on trbl) , 1DC(into Ch space), 1DC(on trbl))
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch to make the turning Ch.

Round 6:-
1 DC is already made while making the turning Ch
1 DC in each of the remaining Sts.
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch to make the turning Ch.

Round 7 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round  3, 4 , 5 and 6 untill the size needed and weave off.
