Crochet Shell Stitch is a very a beautiful , versatile and easy crochet stitch that you can use for a variety of projects. There are many variations and combinations you can whip up with the Crochet Shell Stitch. The shell stitch is a crochet stitch pattern that creates a beautifully textured scalloped design. You can make many projects like Doilies, Crochet Tablemats Placemats , Coasters, Potholders and of Course Crocheted Blankets.
Toady am sharing the pattern for Easy Crochet Shell Block Blanket. The Blanket pattern is made with shell stitches combined with a row of Single Crochets and Chain stitches worked together. This gives the blanket a lovely texture.
Materials Used:-
Variegated Cotton Yarn
4 mm Crochet Hook
4 mm Crochet Hook
Size:-
36 inches- Customizable to any size

Let's Start:-
Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 96 + 1 Chain for the turning chain.
This measures around 36 inches.
You can adjust the size of the blanket by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any multiple of 8 + 1 Chain for the turning chain.
Round 2:-
7 Double Crochets in the Fifth Chain from the hook.
Skip 3.
1 Single Crochet.
Repeat(7DC,Sk3,1SC)
Once you reach the end, Chain 1 and turn your work.
Round 3:-
In the first stitch make- (1 Single Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Single Crochet).
Chain 5.
Skip the Double Crochets.
In the next Single Crochet make - (1 Single Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Single Crochet).
Repeat((1 Single Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Single Crochet),Chain 5).
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and Use the Straight Edge Turning Chain to make the Turning Chain.
Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
- Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
- Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
- Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
- Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
- This will make one Double Crochet.
Round 4:-
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
3 Double Crochets into the Chain 2 space.
1 Single Crochet in the Middle Stitch(i.e.the 4th Stitch of the 7DCs) from One Row Below.
7 Double Crochets into the next Chain 2 space.
1 Single Crochet in the Middle Stitch(i.e.the 4th Stitch) from One Row Below.
Repeat(7DC-in the Ch2 Space),1SC in the middle St from 1 Row Below)
3 Double Crochets in the Last Chain 2 space.
1 Double Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 1 and turn your work.
Round 5:-
1 Single Crochet in the first stitch.
Chain 3.
In the next Chain 2 space make- (1 Single Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Single Crochet).
Chain 5.
Skip the Double Crochets.
In the next Single Crochet make - (1 Single Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Single Crochet).
Repeat((1 Single Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Single Crochet),Chain 5).
After making the last set of Chain 2 space - Chain 3.
1 Single Crochet in the last stitch.
Once you reach end, Chain 1 and turn your work.
Round 6:-
1 Single Crochet in the first Stitch.
Skip the Chain 3.
7 Double Crochets into the Chain 2 space.
1 Single Crochet in the Middle Stitch(i.e.the 4th Stitch of the 7DCs) from One Row Below.
Repeat(7DC-in the Ch2 Space),1SC in the middle St from 1 Row Below)
1 Single Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 1 and turn your work.
Round 7 Onwards:-
Keep Repeating Round 3, Round 4, Round 5 and Round 6 untill the size needed and weave off.
Round 1:-
