How To Make a Crochet Heart To Solid Granny Crochet Square


Crochet Heart Projects are very popular among crocheters during the Valentine’s Day. The Crochet Heart Patterns are very versatile. You can make them from simple Appliques and Motifs form and they are great for adding to your crochet projects.

Today am sharing the tutorial for How To Make a Crochet Heart To Solid Granny Crochet Square. Solid Granny Square Patterns are one of  my favourites to make. They are often very quick and easy to make. The Solid Crochet Squares are perfect for making Blankets, Pillows , Bags, Cardigans and just many more projects you can think of.

Combining both Crochet Hearts and Solid Granny Square is a perfect project to make for this Valentines Day. This pattern is started by making a Cute Crochet Heart and then converting it into a Crocheted Square. This motif can be used for many of your projects. Solid Crochet squares makes awesomely no gaps texture and design. Crocheting this Solid Heart Granny Square will not only a fun project but also a great way to add a personalized touch to your projects which you can gift to your loved ones.

8 Ply Yarn
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
5 inches - Customizable to any size

Notes:-
For this whole Pattern, the Starting Chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. It is Just to bring the yarn to a working height. 
Start the next stitch in the same stitch.

Abbreviations Used:-
Ch - Chain
DC - Double Crochet
Sk - Skip
SL - Slip Stitch
St/Sts - Stitch/Stitches
Trbl - Treble Crochet
DTrbl - Double Treble Crochet
SC - Single Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
HDC  Half Double Crochet

Lets Start ...!!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Chain 2.
12 Double Crochets in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.

Round 2:-

Skip 1 Stitch
7 Treble Crochets into the next stitch(i.e the 3rd Stitch).
1 Double Crochet in the next Stitch.
2 Double Crochets each into the next 2 Stitches.
(2 Double Crochets ,Chain 1 Picot, 2 Double Crochets)-all in the same stitch- this makes the tip of the Heart.
2 Double Crochets each into the next 2 Stitches.
1 Double Crochet in the next Stitch.
7 Treble Crochets into the next stitch
Skip 1 Stitch.
Make a Slip Stitch into the 1st Stitch and Change the yarn color while making the Slip Stitch.

How to make a Treble Crochet??...here it is.....!!
  1. Yarn over hook twice, insert hook in the Stitch and Pull up a loop.(4 loops on hook). 
  2. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops remain on hook). 
  3. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook).
  4. Yarn over, pull 2 loops on hook (1 treble crochet complete).

Round 3:-
**This round onwards , we will be making the stitches into the Third Back Loop of the stitch.
Chain 2. 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Half Double Crochet.
1 Single Crochet.
(2 Double Crochets , Chain 2, 2 Double Crochets in the same stitch) - that's the 1st Corner made.
1 Half Double Crochet each into the next 3 Stitches.
1 Double Crochet each into the next 2 Stitches.
1 Treble Crochet.
(1 Double Treble Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Double Treble Crochet in the same stitch) - that's the next Corner made.
1 Treble Crochet.
1 Double Crochet.
1 Half Double Crochet.
1 Single Crochet.
1 Slip Stitch into the Picot Stitch.
1 Single Crochet.
1 Half Double Crochet.
1 Double Crochet.
1 Treble Crochet.
(1 Double Treble Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Double Treble Crochet in the same stitch) - that's the next Corner made.
1 Treble Crochet.
1 Double Crochet each into the next 2 Stitches.
1 Half Double Crochet each into the next 3 Stitches.
(2 Double Crochets , Chain 2, 2 Double Crochets in the same stitch) - that's the next Corner made.
1 Single Crochet.
1 Half Double Crochet.
1 Double Crochet.
Make a Slip stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.

How to make a Double Treble Crochet??...here it is.....!!
  1. Yarn over hook thrice, insert hook in the Stitch and Pull up a loop.(5 loops on hook). 
  2. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (4 loops remain on hook). 
  3. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops remain on hook).
  4. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook).
  5. Finally Yarn over, pull 2 loops on hook (1 Double Treble Crochet complete).
How to  work into the Third Back Loop of the stitch.??...here it is.....!!
  1. Insert your hook in the third loop i.e the one at the back of your work just below the back loop.
  2. The Front and the Back Loop will be facing forward.
  3. This gives a pretty textured look.

Round 4:-
Chain 2.
1 Double Crochet in each stitch untill you reach the Corner.
In the Chain 2 Space make - (2 Double Crochets, Chain 1, 2 Double Crochets)- that's the corner made.
Repeat(1DC in each stitch untill corner),(2DC,Ch1,2DC)-in corner stitches)
Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.

Round 5:-
Chain 2.
1 Double Crochet in each stitch untill you reach the Corner.
In the Chain 1 Space make - (2 Double Crochets, Chain 1, 2 Double Crochets)- that's the corner made.
Repeat(1DC in each stitch untill corner),(2DC,Ch1,2DC)-in corner stitches)
Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet and Weave off.

***If you wish to make it larger, then keep repeating Round 5 untill the size needed.



Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-

(2DCs,Ch2,2DCs in the same St) - that's the 1st Corner made.
1HDC each into the next 3 Sts.
1DC each into the next 2 Sts.
1Trbl.
(1DTrbl,Ch2,1DTrbl in the same St) - that's the next Corner made.
1Trbl.
1DC.
1HDC.
1SC.
1 SL into the Picot St.
1SC.
1HDC.
1DC.
1Trbl.
(1DTrbl, Ch2, 1DTrbl in the same St) - that's the next Corner made.
1Trbl.
1DC each into the next 2 Sts.
1HDC each into the next 3 Sts.
(2DCs,Ch2,2DCs in the same St) - that's the next Corner made.

Make a SL on top of the 1st Double Crochet.

Round 4:-
Ch2.
1DC in each St untill you reach the Corner.
In the Ch2 Space make - (2DCs,Ch1,2DCs)- that's the corner made.
Repeat(1DC in each St untill corner),(2DC,Ch1,2DC)-in corner Sts)
SL on top of the 1st Double Crochet.

Round 5:-
Ch2.
1DC in each St untill you reach the Corner.
In the Ch1 Space make - (2DCs,Ch1,2DCs)- that's the corner made.
Repeat(1DC in each St untill corner),(2DC,Ch1,2DC)-in corner Sts)
SL on top of the 1st Double Crochet and Weave off.

***If you wish to make it larger, then keep repeating Round 5 untill the size needed.
