How to Make Easy Crochet Christmas Placemats



When it comes to holiday season decoration, its always fun and exciting to add your own handmade projects. Adding your own handmade crochet projects definitely adds a personal touch to the decorations. Handmade crochet projects also make wonderful gifts for your family and loved ones.

Today am sharing the pattern for a Simple Crochet Christmas Placemat. The colors used definitely speak Christmas. You can also crochet them year along with any choice of your yarn color to suit any occasion. This Christmas Placemat will be a beautiful addition to your holiday table.




Materials Used:-
4 Ply Cotton Knitting Yarn 
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
8 inches- Customizable to any size

Let's Start ....!!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
12 Double Crochets in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
12 Stitches.


Round 2:-
Chain 4 (the starting chain 2 will be considered as 1 Double Crochet and the remaining stitches will be counted as Chain 2.)
1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Chain 2
Repeat(1DC, Chain 2)
Slip Stitch into the Second Chain.
12 Double Crochet and 12 Chain spaces.



Round 3:-
Start with Chain 2(Not Counted as  a stitch). 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
2 Double Crochet in the next chain space.
Repeat*(1DC,2DC)
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
36 Stitches.



Round 4:-
Chain 4 (the starting chain 2 will be considered as 1 Double Crochet and the remaining stitches will be counted as Chain 2.)
Skip 1 Stitch.
1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Chain 2
Repeat(1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)
Slip Stitch into the Second Chain.
18 Double Crochet and 18 Chain spaces.



Round 5:-
Start with Chain 2(Not Counted as  a stitch). 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
2 Double Crochet in the next chain space.
Repeat*(1DC,2DC)
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
54 Stitches.


Round 6:-
Chain 4 (the starting chain 2 will be considered as 1 Double Crochet and the remaining stitches will be counted as Chain 2.)
Skip 1 Stitch.
1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Chain 2
Repeat(1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)
Slip Stitch into the Second Chain.
27 Double Crochet and 27 Chain spaces.



Round 7:-
Start with Chain 2(Not Counted as  a stitch). 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
2 Double Crochet in the next chain space.
Repeat*(1DC,2DC)
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
81 Stitches.

I stopped with the increase with this round. If you wish to make a larger size placemat, then keep repeating Round 6 and Round 7 untill the size needed.

The increase pattern will be as below:-

Round 8  -  1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)
Round 9  -  (1DC,2DC into the chain space)
Round 10 - 1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)
Round 11 - (1DC,2DC into the chain space)....and so on..!!



Border:-
Chain 2.
3 Double Crochets in the same stitch.
Skip 3 stitches.
1 Slip Stitch in the next stitch.
Repeat((Chain 2, (1DC)*3)- all in same stitch, Skip 3, 1 SL in the next stitch)
Slip stitch into the first stitch and weave off.










Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.

Sl on top of the first DC.
36 Sts.

Round 4:-
Ch 4 (the starting Ch 2 will be considered as 1 DC and the remaining Sts will be counted as Ch 2.)
Sk 1 St.
1 DC in the next St.
Ch 2
Repeat(1DC, Ch 2, Sk 1)
Sl into the Second Ch.
18 DC and 18 Ch spaces.

Round 5:-
Start with Ch 2(Not Counted as  a St). 1 DC in the same St.
2 DC in the next Ch space.
Repeat*(1DC,2DC)
Sl on top of the first DC.
54 Sts.

Round 6:-
Ch 4 (the starting Ch 2 will be considered as 1 DC and the remaining Sts will be counted as Ch 2.)
Sk 1 St.
1 DC in the next St.
Ch 2
Repeat(1DC, Ch 2, Sk 1)
Sl into the Second Ch.
27 DC and 27 Ch spaces.

Round 7:-
Start with Ch 2(Not Counted as  a St). 1 DC in the same St.
2 DC in the next Ch space.
Repeat*(1DC,2DC)
Sl on top of the first DC.
81 Sts.

Border:-
Ch 2.
3 DCs in the same St.
Sk 3 Sts.
1 Slin the next St.
Repeat((Ch 2, (1DC)*3)- all in same St, Sk 3, 1 SL in the next St)
Sl into the first St and weave off.
