How To Crochet Star Stitch Blanket With Bulky Yarn



Bulky Yarns are the best to use for Crocheted Blankets. They work up really quick and make great warm cozy blankets. Blankets that use bulkier yarn are always a favorite of many crocheters. You can easily alter the size of these Blanket by changing the starting number of Chains.

Today am sharing the tutorial on How To Crochet Star Stitch Blanket With Bulky Yarn. Its a easy Two Row repeat pattern. The Star stitch is a beautiful stitch pattern that creates a pretty texture that is perfect for a cozy blanket. The Star Stitch pattern looks complicated but it’s actually an easy stitch to crochet.




Materials Used:-
Bulky Yarn
5.50 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
48 inches- Customizable to any size

Ch - Chain
HDC - Half Double Crochet
SC5TOG -Single Crochet 5 together
St/Sts - Stitch/Stitches
YO - Yarn Over

Let's Start...!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a slip knot.
Chain 97.
This measures around 48 inches. If you wish to change the size, then you can adjust these starting number of chain stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any Odd number of Chains.

Round 2:-
One Star Stitch in each of the stitches.
1 Half Double Crochet in the last Stitch.
Once you reach the end ,Chain 2 and turn your work.

How to make the Star Stitch.....?? :-

First Star Stitch:-(we will start with SC5TOG)
  1. Insert hook into the 2nd chain from hook, Yarn Over and pull up a loop (2 loops on the hook).
  2. Insert hook into the 3rd chain from hook, Yarn Over and pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook).
  3. Insert hook into the 1st Stitch, Yarn Over and pull up a loop (4 loops on the hook).
  4. Insert hook into the next Stitch, Yarn Over and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook).
  5. Insert hook into the next Stitch, Yarn Over and pull up a loop (6 loops on the hook).
  6. Yarn Over and pull through all the 6 loops on your hook.(this creates the Spike of the Star)
  7. Chain 1. (this creates the Center or the Eye of the Star Stitch)
  8. That's 1 Star Stitch Complete.
Next Star Stitch:-
  1. Insert your hook into the Center of the Star, Yarn Over and pull up a loop(2 loops on hook).
  2. Insert your hook into the Leg of the Spike from the first Star, Yarn Over and pull up a loop(3 loops on hook).
  3. Insert your hook into the Bottom of the Spike from the first Star, Yarn Over and pull up a loop(4 loops on hook).
  4. Insert hook into the next Stitch, Yarn Over and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook).
  5. Insert hook into the next Stitch, Yarn Over and pull up a loop (6 loops on the hook).
  6. Yarn Over and pull through all the 6 loops on your hook.(this creates the Spike of the Star)
  7. Chain 1. (this creates the Center or the Eye of the star stitch)
  8. That's the 2nd Star Stitch Complete.

Round 3:-
2 Half Double Crochets into each of the Center of the Star Stitches.
2 Half Double Crochets into the last stitch.
Chain 3 and turn your work.
Round 4:-
One Star Stitch in each of the stitches.(refer Round 2 for Star Stitch)
1 Half Double Crochet in the last Stitch.
Once you reach the end ,Chain 2 and turn your work.

Round 5 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 3 and Round 4 untill the size needed and weave off.

Next Star St:-
Insert your hook into the Center of the Star, YO and pull up a loop(2 loops on hook).
Insert your hook into the Leg of the Spike from the first Star, YO and pull up a loop(3 loops on hook).
Insert your hook into the Bottom of the Spike from the first Star, YO and pull up a loop(4 loops on hook).
Insert hook into the next St, YO and pull up a loop (5 loops on the hook).
Insert hook into the next St, YO and pull up a loop (6 loops on the hook).

Ch 1. (this creates the Center or the Eye of the star St)

Round 3:-
2HDCs into each of the Center of the Star Sts.
2HDCs into the last St.
Ch 3 and turn your work.

Round 4:-
One Star St in each of the Sts.(refer Round 2 for Star St)
1HDCin the last St.
Once you reach the end ,Ch 2 and turn your work.

Round 5 Onwards:-
