Easy Crochet Afghan Flower Granny Square



Granny squares are one of my favorite crochet projects. Crochet Granny Squares have always been popular since so long. They are super easy to make plus these Granny Squares are incredibly versatile projects to make. You can use them as coasters or make a bunch of them which can be assembled and made into Crochet Blankets , Sweaters , Placemats , Tablemats and many more. 

Today am sharing the pattern for a Easy Crochet Afghan Flower Granny  Square. The pattern is quick to make and use can play along with different yarn colors to get a super colorful square. These Granny Squares are great to use your scarp yarn bits.




Materials Used:-
8 Ply Yarn
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
5 Inches

Abbreviations Used:-
Ch - Chain
HDC - Half Double Crochet
SC - Single Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
Trbl - Treble Crochet
Sk - Skip
St/Sts - Stitch/Stitches

Notes:-
For this whole Pattern, the Starting Chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. It is Just to bring the yarn to a working height. 
Start the next stitch in the same stitch.

Lets Start ...!!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Chain 2.
12 Double Crochets in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
12 Stitches.


Round 2:-
Chain 2.
2 Double Crochets in each stitch around.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
24 stitches.

Round 3:-
Chain 3
Skip 2 Stitches.
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat(Ch2,Sk2,1SC)
8 Chain Spaces.

Round 4:-
Slip Stitch into the Chain 3 space.
Change the yarn color while making the Slip Stitch.
(Chain 2,1 Half Double Crochet,5 Double Crochets,1 Half Double Crochet) - all in the same Chain space.
1 Single Crochet into the next stitch.
Repeat(1HDC,5DC,1HDC)-all in the same Ch space, 1SC)
Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Half Double Crochet.
Change the yarn color while making the Slip Stitch.

Round 5:-
Chain 6(the starting Chain 3 will be counted as 1 Double Crochet and the remaining stitches will be counted as Chain 3 space)
1 Single Crochet into the Middle Stitch of the bunch(.ie.the 4th Stitch)
1 Double Crochet into the next Single Crochet.
Repeat(Ch3,1SC-into the Middle St(i.e the 4th St),Ch3,1DC(into the next SC)
Once you reach the end , make a Slip Stitch into the 3rd Chain .

Round 6:-
Slip Stitch into the Chain space.
Chain 1(this wont be counted as a stitch)
4 Single Crochets into the same space.
5 Single Crochets into the next Chain 3 space.
Repeat(4SC,5SC into the next space)
Once you reach the end , make a Slip Stitch into the 1st Single Crochet.
72 Stitches.

Round 7:-
Chain 1(this wont be counted as a stitch)
1 Single Crochet each into 4 stitches.
1 Half Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.
3 Treble Crochets in the next stitch.(this will make the 1st corner)
1 Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.
1 Half Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
1 Single crochet each in the next 7 stitches.
Repeat(1HDC*3,,1DC*2,3Trbl,1DC*2,1HDC*3,1SC*7)
At the end you will have 3 stitches left, make 1 Single Crochet each of the 3 Stitches.(this will make the 7SCs including the starting 4SCs)
Make a Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Single Crochet and Weave off.
 

Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Ch 2.
11DCs in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
SL on top of the 1st DC.
12 Sts.

Round 2:-
Ch 2.
1DCs in each St around.
SL on top of the 1st DC.
24 Sts.

Round 3:-
Ch 3
Skip 2 Sts.
1SC in the next St.
Repeat(Ch2,Sk2,1SC)
8 Ch Sps.

Round 4:-
SL into the Ch 3 Sp.
Change the yarn color while making the SL.
(Ch 2,1HDC,5DCs,1HDC) - all in the same Ch Sp.
1SC into the next St.
Repeat(1HDC,5DC,1HDC)-all in the same Ch Sp, 1SC)
SL on top of the 1st HDC.
Change the yarn color while making the SL.

Round 5:-
Ch6(the starting Ch3 will be counted as 1DC and the remaining sts will be counted as Ch3 Sp)
1SC into the Middle St of the bunch(.ie.the 4th St)
1DC into the next SC.
Repeat(Ch3,1SC-into the Middle St(i.e the 4th St),Ch3,1DC(into the next SC)
Once you reach the end , make a SL into the 3rd Ch .

Round 6:-
SL into the Ch Sp.
Ch 1(this wont be counted as a St)
4 SCs into the same Sp.
5 SCs into the next Ch 3 Sp.
Repeat(4SC,5SC into the next Sp)
Once you reach the end , make a SL into the 1st SC.
72 Sts.

Round 7:-
Ch 1(this wont be counted as a St)
1SC each into 4 Sts.
1HDC each in the next 3 Sts.
1DC each in the next 2 Sts.
3 Treble Crochets in the next St.(this will make the 1st corner)
1DC each in the next 2 Sts.
1HDC each in the next 3 Sts.
1SC each in the next 7 Sts.
Repeat(1HDC*3,,1DC*2,3Trbl,1DC*2,1HDC*3,1SC*7)
At the end you will have 3 Sts left, make 1SC each of the 3 Sts.(this will make the 7SCs including the starting 4SCs)
Make a SL on top of the 1st SC and Weave off.
