Simple and Easy Lacy Shell Crochet Table Runner




Crochet Table Runners are the best to complement your table decor. Crocheted Table runners are very versatile. Whether you would like to a simple and minimalist look or intricate lace pattern ,they are the best to spruce up your dinning space.

Today am sharing the pattern for Simple and Easy Lacy Shell Crochet Table Runner. Its a Two Row Repeat pattern which is quick and easy to work. The pattern is a combination of Shell Stitches and Single Crochets. The Shell is often worked in a group of 5 or 7 Double Crochets or Half Double Crochets. This combined with other stitches creates a lovely lacy and delicate look.

3 mm Crochet Hook

Lets Start ...!!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 45 + 3 Chains extra for the Turning Chain.
This measures around 8 inches.
You can adjust the size by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any Multiple of 5 + 3 Chains extra for the Turning Chain.

Round 2:-
1 Single Crochet in the 2nd Chain from the hook.
1 Single Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain to make the turning chain.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.

Round 3:-
1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain.
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Shell Stitch (i.e 5 Double Crochets in the same stitch).
Skip 5.
1 Shell Stitch (i.e 5 Double Crochets in the same stitch).
Skip 5.
Repeat(1 Shell St, Sk 5).
At the end you will have 2 Stitches left.
Skip 1 Stitch and make 1 Double Crochet in the last stitch.
Once you reach the end ,Chain 1 and turn your work.

Round 4:-
1 Single Crochet in each of the stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain mentioned in Round 2 to make the turning chain.
42 Stitches.

Round 5:-
1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain.
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Shell Stitch (i.e 5 Double Crochets in the same stitch).
Skip 4.
1 Shell Stitch (i.e 5 Double Crochets in the same stitch).
Skip 4.
Repeat(1 Shell St, Sk 4).
At the end you will have 3 Stitches left.
Skip 2 Stitches and make 1 Double Crochet in the last stitch.
Once you reach the end ,Chain 1 and turn your work.

Round 6 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 4 and Round 5 untill the size needed and weave off.

Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-

Repeat(1 Shell St, Sk 5).
At the end you will have 2 Sts left.
Sk1 St and make 1DC in the last St.
Once you reach the end ,Ch 1 and turn your work.

Round 4:-
1SC in each of the Sts.
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch mentioned in Round 2 to make the turning Ch.
42 Sts.

Round 5:-
1DC is already made while making the turning Ch.
Sk2 Sts.
1 Shell St (i.e 5DCs in the same St).
Sk4.
1 Shell St (i.e 5DCs in the same St).
Sk4.
Repeat(1 Shell St,Sk4).
At the end you will have 3 Sts left.
Sk2 Sts and make 1DC in the last St.
Once you reach the end ,Ch 1 and turn your work.

Round 6 Onwards:-
