Christmas Holiday Crochet Square Potholder Part of The 2024 Holiday Stashdown Crochet Along


Who Doesn't Love Decorating their home for the Christmas Season. Its the absolute joyful thing to do. Decorating your home with Handmade Crochet Projects is the most wonderful and joyful thing you would wish to do. This Season Bring a little festive touch into every corner and room of your house with your Love Filled Crochet Projects.

Today am sharing the pattern for Christmas Holiday Crochet Square Potholder. I made this as a part of the 2024 Holiday Stashdown Crochet Along with Underground Crafter . Crochet Potholders are absolutely versatile. By using different combination and variety of Crochet Stitches, you can whip up a lovely textured Potholder. They are both decorative and functional. They are great for Gift Giving . The pattern is very easy and quick to work. Bring on the Festive mode and Decorate your kitchen with this crochet Christmas Potholder.




Materials Used:-
8 Ply Cotton Yarn( Less than a Skein)
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
8 inches- Customizable to any size

Ch - Chain
SC - Single Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
YO - Yarn Over
SL  - Slip Stitch

Let's Start:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 40.
This measures around 8 inches.
You can adjust the size altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any Even number of Chains.


Round 2:-
1 Double Crochet in the 5th Chain from the hook.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 1 and turn your work.

Round 3:-
1 Single Crochet in the 1st stitch.
1 Slip Stitch.
1 Half Double Crochet.
Repeat(1SL,1HDC)
1 Single Crochet in the last stitch.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method to make the turning chain.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.

Round 4:-
1 Back Loop Double Crochet in each of the stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 1 and turn your work.

Round 5 Onwards:-
Keep Repeating Round 3 and Round 4 untill its Square in Shape or untill the size needed and weave off.

Hanging Loop:-
Chain 12 and make Slip Stitch into the Bottom Loop and Weave off.

Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-

1BLDC in each of the Sts.
Once you reach end, Ch 1 and turn your work.

Round 5 Onwards:-
