Sandy Shores Crochet Ombre Beach Mat


Crocheted Mats are one of those underrated home essentials that everyone needs but rarely buys for themselves. By crocheting one, you are giving a gift that is both beautiful and highly functional.

If you love lazy beach days and effortless summer stitches, this project is for you. Today am sharing the pattern for Sandy Shores Crochet Ombre Beach Mat. The Sandy Shores Ombre Beach Mat combines ocean gradients with a durable, functional design that is perfect for your next coastal getaway. 8 Ply  Worsted Weight Yarn - 1 Skein Each of Color(Periwinkle Blue, Sandy Beige, Aqua Green and Deep Ocean Blue)
5 mm Crochet Hook

40 Inches - can be customized to any size

Let's Start:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 109.
This measures 40 inches.
You can adjust the size by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any Multiple of 12 + 1 Chain extra for the Turning Chain.
Round 2:-
1 Single Crochet in the Second Chain from the hook.
1 Single Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 1 and turn your work.
Round 3:-
1 Single Crochet into the 1st stitch.
Chain 3.
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Shell Stitch(i.e.7 Double Crochets)
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Single Crochet into the next stitch.
Chain 3.
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Chain 3.
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Skip 2 Stitches.
Repeat((1 Shell St(i.e.7DC),Sk2,1SC into the next St,Ch3,Sk2,1SC in the next St,Ch3,Sk2,1SC in the next St,Sk2)
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.
Round 4:-
1 Double Crochet  is already made with the Turning Chain.
1 Single Crochet into the Chain 3 space.
Skip the Single Crochet and start working on the Shell Stitch.
(1 Double Crochet , Chain 1) - into each of the stitches on the Shell Stitch.
Skip the Single Crochet.
1 Single Crochet into the next Chain 3 Space.
Chain 3.
1 Single Crochet into the next Chain 3 Space.
Skip the Single Crochet
Repeat((1DC,Ch1)-on each of the sts on the Shell),1SC into the Ch3 Space,Ch3,1SC into the next Ch3 Space, Sk SC)
1 Double Crochet into the last stitch.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method mentioned in the previous round to make the Turning Chain.
Round 5:-
1 Double Crochet  is already made with the Turning Chain.
3 More Double Crochets into the same stitch(i.e.the 1st Stitch)- that's total 4 Double Crochets in the 1st Stitch.
Skip the Single Crochet and Start working on the Chain 1 spaces from the Shell Stitch.
Skip the 1st Chain 1 Space,
1 Single Crochet into the next Chain 1 Space.
Skip the next Chain 1 Space,
1 Single Crochet on the next Double Crochet (i.e the Middle Stitch),
Skip the next Chain 1 Space.
1 Single Crochet into the next Chain 1 Space.
