How To Double Crochet Straight Edges

Having a Straight edge is always very pleasing. Now the big Question....... how to keep straight edges while working rows and rows of double crochet stitches.

One of the most important things with crochet is to count your stitches at the end of every row. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, believe me counting your stitches is always advisable. Nothing is more frustrating than having to rip out hours and hours of work, just because it doesn't have a straight edge.

There are various methods used to get a nice double crochet edge. I've checked and pondered on many of the methods available on internet.

Out of all, I loved the Chain less Starting Double Crochet method by TAMARA KELLY at Moogly Blog. The tutorial has both video as well as the photo details.

Recently I saw this easy way of having a Straight edged project on Pinterest. There was no credit given to link up.I have been using this method in many of my projects which I have shared on my Blog.

So, I thought , why not to have a Separate Post on this tip.....Come lets check out how you can get a nice Double Crochet Edge.

Start your project with the recommended number of chain stitches.

Here, I am just making a small rectangle.

Start with slip knot and chain 10.

Double Crochet in the third chain from the hook.

Double Crochet in each of the chains.

Once you reach end, Chain 2.

Insert the hook into the 1st chain you've made.

Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.

Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.(the first Double Crochet)

Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.

Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.

Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Now, continue with the Double Crochet in each of the remaining stitches.

Continue the same alteration at the end of each row.

Doesn't it look a lot neater than the usual Chain 2 and turn method!!!!

Try out this simple tip and you will surely end with a nice edged project.
