The October Rust Infinity Crochet Cowl Scarf

Every crocheter has that one project that they definitely want to make time and again - it's the infinity cowl scarf. Crochet Cowl Patterns are easy and quick to work. Often combining the basic crochet stitches creates lovely textured projects.

Today am sharing the pattern for The October Rust Infinity Crochet Cowl Scarf. I made this as a Part Of Scarf & Hat of the Month Club CAL 2026 along with Rhondda from Oombawka Design Crochet and Amy from The Stitchin’ Mommy.

One of the best things about this project is its simplicity. This Infinity Cowl pattern is made from a simple rectangle. There is no hassle of increasing or decreasing stitches. Once your rectangle is complete, simply join the short ends together to create a cozy infinity cowl that's stylish and comfortable ready to wear.

Materials Used:-

Gradient Worsted Weight yarn - 1 Skein (100Gms)
5mm Crochet Hook

Size:-

11/ 20 Inches - can be customized to any size

Let's Start...!!!

Round 1:-

Start with a Slip Knot.

Chain 39 +2 Chains Extra for the Turning Chain.

You can adjust the size by altering these stitches according to your requirement.

Start with any multiple of 3 + 2 Chains Extra for the turning chain. 

Round 2:-

In the 2nd Chain from the hook make - 1 Half Double Crochet and 1 Double Crochet into the same Stitch.

Skip 2 Stitches.

In the next stitch make (1 Single Crochet , 1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet)-all in the same stitch.

Skip 2.

Repeat((1SC,1HDC,1DC)-all in same St, skip 2)

1 Single Crochet in the last stitch.

Chain 1 and turn your project.

Round 3:-

** This Round onwards we will be working only into the Single Crochets from the previous Round.

In the 1st Stitch make - (1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet)

In the next Single Crochet make - (1 Single Crochet , 1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet) - all in the same stitch

Repeat((1SC,1HDC,1DC) into each of the SCs.

1 Single Crochet in the last stitch.

Chain 1 and turn your project.

Round 4 Onwards:-

Keep repeating Round 3 untill its around 20 inches or untill the size needed and do not weave off. Leave a long tail end to sew both the ends together.

Joining:-

Lay the Cowl flat so that the working yarn end is on the bottom left hand side.

Bring the two ends - i.e the Bottom Left Side and the Top Right Side- together so that they are overlapping by approximately 2–3 inches .

Make sure the stitches on both layers are aligned(diagonally) and the cowl is not twisted.

Insert your hook through the first stitch of both overlapping layers and join them with Slip Stitches and Weave off.

Reach inside the cowl through one of the open ends.

Gently pull the fabric through the opening, turning the cowl inside out so the slip stitch seam is hidden on the inside.

Weave in the remaining loose ends.

Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-

Round 3:-

** This Round onwards we will be working only into the SCs from the previous Round.

In the 1st St make - (1HDC,1DC)

In the next SC make - (1SC,1HDC,1DC) - all in the same St

Repeat((1SC,1HDC,1DC) into each of the SCs.

1 SC in the last St.

Ch 1 and turn your project.

Round 4 Onwards:-
