Textured Mandala Doily

I absolutely love making Doilies for home decor and they make great gifts for your loved ones too.Today am sharing the pattern for this pretty easy to make flower edged mandala doily ..... Textured Mandala doily. Mandalas are just so joyful to look at.

Use them at your home as potholders, table decorations or you can sew them to a cushion or hang them on a wall.This Textured Mandala is customizable to any size. You can easily increase the number of rounds and you can use them as Floor Rug too.

Materials Used:-
  • Cake Yarn
  • 4 mm Crochet Hook






I have given a Summary of the pattern at the end of this page.

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle
Chain 2.(Not counted as a Stitch)




12 Double Crochet in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.


        

Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.

12 Stitches.



Round 2:-
Chain 2.(This is not counted as a stitch),1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.




1 Front Post Double Crochet in the same stitch.
(that's 2 Stitches in the same stitch)




Repeat*(1DC,1FPDC).
Slip stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.
24 Stitches.





Round 3:-
Chain 2.(This is not counted as a stitch),1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.



(1 Double Crochet, 1 Front Post Double Crochet ) in the next stitch.

Repeat*((1DC,(1DC,1FPDC))




Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.
36 Stitches.


Round 4:-
Chain 2.(Not counted as a Stitch),1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet in next stitch.
(1 Double Crochet, 1 Front post Double Crochet) in the next stitch.




Repeat*(1DC in next 2 Stitches,(1DC,1FPDC)).
Slip Stitch on top of first Double Crochet.
48 Stitches. 


Round 5:-
Chain 2.(Not counted as a Stitch)
1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet each in next 2 Stitches.




(1 Double Crochet, 1 Front Post Double Crochet ) in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC in next 3 Stitches,(1DC,1FPDC)).
Slip Stitch on top of first Double Crochet.
60 Stitches.

Round 6:-
Chain 2.(Not counted as a Stitch),1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet each in 3 Stitches.

Chain 2.(Not counted as a Stitch),1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.

Repeat*(1DC in next 9 Stitches,(1DC,1FPDC)).
Slip Stitch on top of first Double Crochet.
132 Stitches.


I stopped here with the increases. Up till here, my Doily measures around 10 inches.If you wish , You can follow the same increase pattern and make your doily bigger.


Round 12:-
Chain 5, Skip 2 Stitches,1 Single Crochet in the 3rd Stitch.



Repeat*(CH5,Skip 2, 1 Single Crochet)


Slip Stitch to end the round.




Round 13:-
Slip stitch into the chain space and Chain 2.(Not Counted as a Stitch)

5 Double Crochet in the Chain Space.
Slip Stitch to next chain space.
5 Double Crochets in the next Chain Space.


Repeat*(5DC in chain space, Slip Stitch into next Chain Space,5DC in the next Chain Space)

Slip Stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.
Round 14:-
1 Long Treble Stitch on the middle stitch from Round 11.
This is the Stitch you will be making the stitch.



How to make a Long Treble Crochet??...here it is.....!!

  1. Yarn over hook twice, insert hook in the Stitch and Pull up a loop.(4 loops on hook). 
  2. Yarn over, pull through only 1 loop on hook (4 loops remain on hook). 
  3. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops remain on hook).
  4. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook).
  5. Yarn over, pull 2 loops on hook (1 treble crochet complete).




(1 Single Crochet, Chain 1) each on the 5 Double Crochets from previous round.


1 Long Treble Crochet in the same stitch from round 11.
Slip Stitch into the next chain space.


Repeat*(1 long Trbl((1SC,Chain 1) each on the 5 DC), 1 long Trbl)
Slip Stitch on top of the Treble to end the round.




Round 15:-
Chain 2.(Not counted as a Stitch).
1 Double Crochet each in the 5 Chain 1 space.
1 Picot Stitch.(Chain 3, Slip stitch into 1st Chain....that's 1 Picot Stitch made)




1 Double Crochet each in the remaining Chain 1 Spaces.
Slip Stitch in the next chain space.




Repeat*(1 DC each in the 5 Chain 1 space,1 Picot,1 DC in the remaining Chain 1 Stitches,Slip Stitch into the Chain space)





Weave off the yarn ends.

This doily measures around 14 inches.

The size may vary according to the yarn you use.
