Knowing how to crochet the basic shapes would be useful for so many of your Crochet Projects. Be it of any shape ...Rectangle, Oval, Round, Square. You can make so many crochet projects with a simple Base.....Bags, purses, cushion covers, pillows, scarf, rugs, placemats, blankets and many more as you wish.
Today am sharing the pattern for Single Crochet Solid Hexagon. Make couple of these hexagons and you can make different varieties of crochet projects by joining them together.
Materials Used:-
8 Ply Yarn
4mm Crochet Hook
Notes:-
For this whole pattern the starting Chain 1 is not counted as a stitch. It is just to bring the yarn to a working height.
Start the next stitch in the same stitch.
Here is the Video Tutorial:-
Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle and Chain 1(Not Counted as a stitch)
6 single Crochets in the Magic Circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.
Chain 1.
2 Single Crochets in each Stitch around.
Slip stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.
Chain 1.
1 Single Crochet in the same stitch.
2 Single Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat(1SC,2SC)
Slip stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.
Chain 1.
1 Single Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.
2 Single Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat(1SC * 2,2SC)
Slip stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.
24 Stitches.
Round 5:-
Chain 1.
1 Single Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
2 Single Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat(1SC * 3,2SC)
Slip stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.
30 Stitches.
Chain 1.
1 Single Crochet each in the next 4 stitches.
(1 Single Crochet, Chain 1, 1 Single Crochet) - all in the next stitch
Repeat(1SC *4,(1SC,Chain 1,1SC))
Slip stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.
36 Stitches - Do not count the chain 1 as a stitch. It would be easy to keep a track of the stitches this way.
Round 7 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 6 untill you reach the size needed.
Remember to:-
Start each round with Chain 1.
Start the next stitch in the same stitch.
Keep increasing the starting number of Single Crochets by 1 from the previous round.
Increase(1.e. 1SC, Chain 1, 1SC)
Slip stitch on top of the first single crochet.
The stitch count with each round should increase by 6.
Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-
You had started off with 6 stitches, so with each round the stitch count should increase by 6 :-
Round 1 - 6 StitchesRound 2 - 12 Stitches(+6)
Round 3 - 18 Stitches(+6)
Round 4 - 24 Stitches(+6)
Round 5 - 30 Stitches(+6)
Round 6 - 36 Stitches(+6)
Round 7 - 42 Stitches(+6)
Round 8 - 48 Stitches(+6)
Round 9 - 54 Stitches(+6)
.....and so on...
And the pattern for increasing the stitches will be as below:-
Round 1--Start with a magic ring, make 6 SC(Single Crochet) (6)
Round 2--2SC in each stitch around (12)
Round 3--(1 SC , 2SC in the next stitch) (that is 2SC in one stitch)(18)
Round 4--(1 SC* 2, 2SC in next stitch) - 24
Round 5--(1 SC* 3, 2SC in next stitch)- 30
Round 6--(1 SC* 4, (1SC, Chain 1, 1SC) in next stitch)- 36
Round 7--(1 SC* 5, (1SC, Chain 1, 1SC) in next stitch)- 42
Round 8--(1 SC* 6, (1SC, Chain 1, 1SC) in next stitch)- 48
Round 9--(1 SC* 7, (1SC, Chain 1, 1SC) in next stitch)- 54
.....and so on.

Hello! I found you on Instructables website! I use to crochet and have not done it in years and you really inspired me to pick it back up again. I am going to spend time on your website watching videos and getting back to the basics again.

Thank yo for explaining this. I was confused by a pattern requiring a solid hexagon and they didn't bother to explain what that pattern was, so thank you so much.
