If you are looking for a quick easy and simple crochet potholder pattern, then here it is. Today am sharing the pattern for this Easy Double Thick Textured Crochet Square Potholder .This Potholder crochet pattern works up quick and the double thickness makes it strong and durable too. Potholders are also one of my favorite projects to give as gifts to friends and family.
The size of this potholder can easily customized according to your need by changing the starting number of stitches. Its always advisable to use cotton yarn to make crochet potholders.
Materials Used:-
8 Ply Cotton Yarn
4 mm Crochet Hook
Size:-
10 inches- Customizable to any size
Notes:-
For this whole Pattern, the Starting Chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. It is Just to bring the yarn to a working height. Start the next stitch in the same stitch.

Round 1:-
Start with a slip knot.
Chain 40.
This measures 10 inches. If you wish to make a larger size potholder, then you can adjust these starting number of chain stitches according to your requirement.
1 Double Crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches untill the last stitch.
3 Double Crochets in the last stitch.
Turn your work and start working on the opposite side.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches untill the last stitch.
3 Double Crochets in the last stitch.
Slip stitch on top of the 1st Double Crochet.
Round 3:-
Chain 2.
1 Double Crochet .
1 Front Post Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat(1DC ,1FPDC).
Slip stitch on top of the first stitch.
Round 4:-
- This Round Onwards we will be making the Double Crochet only in the Back Loops.
- And also, this round onwards the starting stitch will be the alternate of the previous round.
- If the stitch in the previous round is a Back Loop Double Crochet, then make a Front Post Double Crochet , if it’s a Front Post Double Crochet, then make a Back Loop Double Crochet.
The pattern for this round will be:-
Chain 2.
1 Front Post Double Crochet.
1 Back Loop Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat(1FPDC, 1BLDC)
Slip stitch on top of the first Stitch.
Keep repeating Round 4 for 10 more rounds or untill you have rectangle pouch formed and weave off.
**Remember to alternate the starting stitch from the previous round.
Open and Fold the top edges in toward the center to create a diagonal seam and you will have a Square shape formed.
Join both the side with slip stitches.
Once you reach the end of the slip stitches, Chain 10 and make a Single Crochet on the bottom stitch and weave off.
Round 1:-
Start with a SL knot.
Ch 40.
This measures 10 inches. If you wish to make a larger size potholder, then you can adjust these starting number of Ch Sts according to your requirement.
Round 2:-
1 Double Crochet in the 2nd Ch from the hook.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining Sts untill the last St.
3 Double Crochets in the last St.
Turn your work and start working on the opposite side.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining Sts untill the last St.
3 Double Crochets in the last St.
SL St on top of the 1st Double Crochet.
Round 3:-
Ch 2.
1 DC .
1 FPDC in the next St.
Repeat(1DC ,1FPDC).
SL St on top of the first St.
Round 4:-
This Round Onwards we will be making the Double Crochet only in the Back Loops.
And also, this round onwards the starting stitch will be the alternate of the previous round.
And also, this round onwards the starting stitch will be the alternate of the previous round.
If the St in the previous round is a BLDC, then make a FPDC , if it’s a FPDC, then make a BLDC.
The pattern for this round will be:-
Ch 2.
1 FPDC.
1 BLDC in the next St.
Repeat(1FPDC, 1BLDC)
SL St on top of the first St.
Round 5 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 4 for 10 more rounds or untill you have rectangle pouch formed and weave off.
Folding:-
Open and Fold the top edges in toward the center to create a diagonal seam and you will have a Square shape formed.
Join both the side with SL Sts.
Hanging Loop:-
Once you reach the end of the SL Sts, Ch 10 and make a Single Crochet on the bottom St and weave off.

Even if you don't do this in the fancier front and back post stitches, this turns out amazing and the automatic double thickness is a real plus for a pot holder/trivet.
