Textured Crochet Half Circle Rug



Crochet rugs are a great way to add life and freshen up any corner of your home. Crocheted rugs are a beautiful way to decorate the interior of any home. They can be placed anywhere around your house be it for side of a bed, entrance of your home ,Kitchen , living room, bedroom, Backyard or bathroom. 

Making your own crochet is fun and you have the advantage to customize to your liking and need. Crocheted rugs are easier to work up and take less time. Using Bulky yarn or T-shirt yarn is the best choice for making a crochet rug. 

Here is the pattern for Crochet Half Circle Rug. This is a quick and easy crochet rug pattern made up with simple crochet stitches. The finished pattern is beautiful to look at with a simple Crocheted Border. In just a couple of hours you can have a rug you will be proud to decorate your home with.




Materials Used:-
Bulky Yarn
6 mm Crochet Hook




Size:-
38 Inches - Customizable to any size

Notes:-
  • We will be working one round only in Back Loops and the next round only in the Front Loops.
  • Keep alternating the rounds.
  • Use the Straight Edge Turning Chain to make the turning chain to have a neat edge.

Let's Start...!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Chain 2(This wont be counted as a stitch)
6 Double Crochets in the Magic Circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
This will form a semi circle.
Once you reach end, Chain 2.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the Back Loop of the first stitch.(the first Double Crochet)
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.





Round 2:-
(Will be Working in the Back loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Back Loop Double Crochet in the same stitch.(that's total 2 Double Crochets).
Repeat (2 Back Loop Double Crochets) in each of the remaining stitches.
Once you reach the end Chain 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Chain method mentioned in the previous round.
  • *As mentioned in the notes, we will be alternating the Back and Front Loops with each round.
  • The next round will be worked only in the Front Loops.
  • Be careful to make the turning chain only in the Front Loop*
12 Stitches.



Round 3:-
(Will be Working in the Front loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Front Loop Double Crochet in the same stitch.(that's total 2 Double Crochets).
1 Front Loop Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat (2 FLDC , 1 FLDC) .
Once you reach the end Chain 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain( into the Back Loop).
18 Stitches.






Round 4:-
(Will be Working in the Back loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Back Loop Double Crochet in the same stitch.(that's total 2 Double Crochets).
1 Back Loop Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.
Repeat (2 BLDC , 1 BLDC*2) .
Once you reach the end Chain 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain( into the Front Loop).
24 Stitches.




Round 5:-
(Will be Working in the Front loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Front Loop Double Crochet in the same stitch.(that's total 2 Double Crochets).
1 Front Loop Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
1 Front Loop Double Crochet , 1 Back Post Double Crochet in the same stitch(that's one increase made)
Repeat (1 FLDC*3,(1FLDC, 1 BPDC)-both in the same stitch) .
Once you reach the end Chain 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain( into the Back Loop).
30 Stitches.








Round 6:-
(Will be Working in the Back loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Back Loop Double Crochet in the same stitch.(that's total 2 Double Crochets).
1 Back Loop Double Crochet each in the next 4 stitches.
Repeat (2BLDC ,1 BLDC*4)
Once you reach the end Chain 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain( into the Front Loop).
36 Stitches.






Round 7:-
(Will be Working in the Front loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Front Loop Double Crochet in the same stitch.(that's total 2 Double Crochets).
1 Front Loop Double Crochet each in the next 5 stitches.
1 Front Loop Double Crochet , 1 Back Post Double Crochet in the same stitch(that's one increase made)
Repeat (1 FLDC*5,(1FLDC, 1 BPDC)-both in the same stitch) .
Once you reach the end Chain 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain( into the Back Loop).
42 Stitches.






Round 8:-
(Will be Working in the Back loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)

Round 15:-
(Will be Working in the Front loops only)
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Front Loop Double Crochet in the same stitch.(that's total 2 Double Crochets).
1 Front Loop Double Crochet each in the next 13 stitches.
1 Front Loop Double Crochet , 1 Back Post Double Crochet in the same stitch(that's one increase made)
Repeat (1 FLDC*13,(1FLDC, 1 BPDC)-both in the same stitch) .
Once you reach the end Chain 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain( into Both the loops).
90 Stitches.

I stopped with the increase round here.
The Rug measures 36 inches.

If you wish to make a Larger Rug, follow the below pattern:-

Round 16--(2BLDC ,1 BLDC*14)-96 Sts
Round 17--2FLDC, 1 FLDC*15,(1 FLDC*15,(1FLDC, 1 BPDC)-both in the same stitch)-102 Sts
Round 16--(2BLDC ,1 BLDC*16)-108 Sts
Round 17--2FLDC, 1 FLDC*17,(1 FLDC*17,(1FLDC, 1 BPDC)-both in the same stitch)-114 Sts
 .....and so on.





Border:-
1 Double Crochet already made while making the turning chain.
1 Double Crochet in the same stitch(that's 2 Double Crochets)
1 Picot Stitch(i.e. Chain 3 and make a Slip stitch into the Bottom stitch)
2 Double Crochets  in the same stitch.
Skip 1 Stitch.
1 Slip Stitch in the next stitch
Skip 1 Stitch.
Repeat((2DC,1 Picot,2DC)-all in the same stitch, Skip 1, 1 SL , Skip 1)





Finishing:-
To finish off with a neat edge make, 1 Single Crochet in each and every stitch .
Make the stitches on tip of each stitch.
Slip Stitch and weave off the yarn ends.








Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.

Once you reach the end Ch 2 and turn your project - Use the Straight Turning Ch method mentioned in the previous round.
