With Earth Day coming up, I thought of making some Earth Day Themed crochet projects. One of the great things I love about Crochet is that you can use your imagination to choose the Yarn Colors according to any occasion. Be it any Crochet Project, the color theme would surely make it suitable.
Today am sharing the pattern for Earth Day Crochet Doily. You can of Course make it in any color of your choice. I used Blue and Green to make it a Earth Day Doily.
Size:- 16 Inches(Can be customized to any size)
Materials Used:-
4 Ply Cotton Knitting Yarn
4mm Crochet Hook
Here is the Video Tutorial:-
Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
Chain 10
1 Single Crochet into the Magic Circle.(That's 1 Petal made)
Repeat(Ch 10, 1 SC) untill you have total 8 Petals.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Round 2:-
1 Slip stitch on each stitch untill you reach the top of the Petal.
Chain 5.
1 Single Crochet into the next petal.
Slip stitch on top of the first petal.
Change color while making the slip stitch.
Round 3:-
Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch)
7 Double Crochets in each of the Chain spaces.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
Chain 5.
Skip 2 stitches.
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat (CH5, Skip 2, 1 SC).
Once you reach the end, Chain 2 and make 1 Double Crochet in the 1st Chain Space.
This is the connecting stitch made.
Round 5, 6 and 7:-
Repeat Round 4.
To end Round 7, Chain 5 and slip stitch on top of the Double Crochet from the previous round.
If you wish to make your doily bigger, then keep repeating Round 4 untill the size required.
Round 8:-
Chain 2.(Not Counted as a stitch)
7 Double Crochets in each of the chain spaces.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
Chain 2.(Not Counted a s a stitch)
1 Double Crochet Cluster stitch.
Chain 3.
Repeat (1 DC Cluster, Chain 3)
Slip stitch on top of the first DC Cluster.
Change color while making the slip stitch.
How to Make a Double Crochet Cluster stitch....???:-
- Start Off with a Double Crochet, But Do Not Finish the stitch,
- Yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch.
- Repeat (Yarn Over, insert the hook into the next stitch) untill you have total 4 loops on the Hook.
- Yarn Over and pull through all the loops
- Chain 1
Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch)
1 Front Post Double Crochet on the Cluster stitch.
3 Double Crochets in the Chain 3 space.
Repeat(1FPDC on Cluster, 3DC)
Slip stitch on top of the first FPDC.
Chain 2 (Not Counted as a stitch).Start the first stitch in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet in the 3 Stitches.
While Pulling through the last loops of of the 3rd stitch, change the color.
1 Treble Crochet on the First Front Post Double crochet from the previous round(on Round 10).
1 Treble Crochet on the Second Front Post Double Crochet from the Previous round(on Round 10)
While Pulling through the last loops , change color.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 4 stitches(on Round 11)
While Pulling through the last loops of of the 4th stitch, change the color.
This way the color transition will be neat to look at.
Repeat(1 TRBL on the FPDC(from previous round),1 TRBL on the next FPDC(from previous round), 1 DC*4)
Slip stitch into the chain space.
Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch).
7 Double Crochets in the chain space.
1 Single Crochet in the next Chain space.
Repeat(7DC, 1SC)
Round 14:-
Chain 2.(Not Counted as a stitch).Start the first stitch in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet each in the 3 Stitches.
1 Double Crochet , Chain 2,1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
Slip stitch in the next stitch.
Repeat(1DC*3,(1DC,Ch2,1DC),1DC*3,SL)
Weave off.
Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-
Round 1:-

Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
Round 9:-
Chain 2.(Not Counted a s a stitch)
1 Double Crochet Cluster stitch.
Chain 3.
Repeat (1 DC Cluster, Chain 3)
Slip stitch on top of the first DC Cluster.
Change color while making the slip stitch.
Round 10:-
Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch)
1 Front Post Double Crochet on the Cluster stitch.
3 Double Crochets in the Chain 3 space.
Repeat(1FPDC on Cluster, 3DC)
Slip stitch on top of the first FPDC.
Round 11:-
Chain 2 (Not Counted as a stitch).Start the first stitch in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet in the 3 Stitches.
While Pulling through the last loops of of the 3rd stitch, change the color.

Repeat(7DC, 1SC)
Round 14:-
Chain 2.(Not Counted as a stitch).Start the first stitch in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet each in the 3 Stitches.
1 Double Crochet , Chain 2,1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
Slip stitch in the next stitch.
Repeat(1DC*3,(1DC,Ch2,1DC),1DC*3,SL)
Weave off.
