Three Strands Textured Crochet Organizer Baskets

Crochet baskets are great to personalize your home spaces and they definitely add a great deal of charm and a crafty look to your home. They are a perfect way to put together all of your stuff around your home in a organized way. You can easily crochet a basket of any size to store anything right from small things like stationery, cosmetic items , craft supplies and skeins of yarns to large items as stuffed toys, towels or blankets.

Here is a lovely Textured Chunky Crochet Organizer Basket pattern to bring some cool storage vibes to your home spaces. What do you do when you are ready to Crochet a Chunky Basket, but you don't have those lovely Chunky Yarn ready at hand? You can readily use up your light weight yarns to turn them into Chunky or Bulky yarn. Just use 3 Strands of yarn at a time and you are good to go. It would be lot easier if you pull the 3 strands from the same ball of yarn.

I have made this basket using Alpine stitches. This gives the lovely textured look to the basket. I just love the texture of this stitch.it looks so elegant and it works fairly quick. The alpine stitch is relatively simple to make. This stitch is made up of double crochets, single crochets and front post double crochets.

Materials Used:-
  • 8 Ply Yarn
  • 6 mm Crochet Hook
Size:-
5 Inches - can be customized to any size

Notes:-
For this whole Pattern, the Starting Chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. It is Just to bring the yarn to a working height. Start the next stitch in the same stitch.

Here is the Video Tutorial:-

Get your Yarn Ready:-
Lay your yarn in a "S" shape.
Pull the yarn ends of the right side together and put a knot.
This will create the 3 Strands.
Start crocheting.
Once you reach the end of the 3 strands, you will have a loop. Keep pulling the working yarn through this loop to have a continuous pull of 3 strands.

You can checkout this video for the tutorial:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Magic Circle.
12 Double Crochets in the circle.
Pull the yarn end to close the gap.
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
12 Stitches.

Round 2:-
Chain 2.
2 Double Crochets in each stitch around.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
24 stitches.

Round 3:-
Chain 2. 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
2 Double Crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat*(1DC, 2DC).
Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.
36 Stitches.

I stopped with the increase round here.
The Base measures 5 inches.

If you wish to make a Bigger Basket, follow the below pattern:-
Start each round with Chain 2(Not counted as a stitch)
Round 4--DC 2, 2DC in next stitch(48)
Round 5--DC 3, 2DC in next stitch(60)
Round 6--DC 4, 2DC in next stitch(72)
 .....and so on.

Round 4:-Turning Base
Start with Chain 1.(Not Counted as a stitch).
1 Single Crochet in the Back Loop.
1 Single Crochet each in the Back Loop of the remaining stitches.
Once you reach the end do not slip stitch. We will be working in continuous rounds.

Round 5:-
Chain 2. 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Front post Double Crochet in the next stitch, but instead of inserting the hook in the next stitch, Insert your hook into the stitch which is one row below the current row stitch. i.e the previous round.
Repeat(1DC,1FPDC(in the previous round))
Slip stitch on top of first Double Crochet.

Round 6:-
Chain 1. 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Single Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Slip stitch on top of the first single Crochet.

Round 7 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 5 and Round 6 to get the stitch pattern.

But remember the thumb rule :-
Keep alternating the starting stitches i.e.
  • if the stitch below the row of the single crochets  is a Double Crochet, then make a Front Post Double Crochet , if it’s a Front Post Double Crochet, then make Double Crochet.
The Pattern for this round will be as below:-
Chain 2. 1 Front post Double Crochet on the Double Crochet from the Previous round.
1 Double Crochet in the next stitch - (Be careful not to make a stitch behind the FPDC. Because of the FPDC in the DC below, there will be an unused stitch left behind the FPDC. When you are making the next dc, you should skip that stitch )
Repeat(1FPDC(in the previous round),1DC)
Slip stitch on top of first Double Crochet.

Round 8:-
Repeat of Round 6

Chain 1. 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch.
1 Single Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Slip stitch on top of the first single Crochet.

Weave off yarn ends and your basket is ready to be used.
