How To Crochet a Easy Cool Ocean Crochet Scarf

Crochet Winter projects are the best to make at this time of the year. The options are endless, right from a simple Crochet Earwarmer and  Hats to cozy and snuggly Crochet Blankets and Crochet Cowls and Scarves. I love making crochet scarves for winter. They are quick projects that you can easily complete in a day. Crochet scarves are also one of the great beginner crochet project to start with. They are typically worked in repeated rows which means they are very quick to make. They are the perfect project to carry around on the go or for relaxing in front of a tv show. They also make excellent gifts for your loved ones be it any festive season or occasion.

Today am sharing the Pattern for this Easy Cool Ocean Crochet Scarf. I used cake yarn with shades of blue which reminded me of the calming ocean, hence the name Cool Ocean Crochet Scarf. This scarf has a beautiful and rich texture which is made with combining front post and back post double crochet worked alternatively. A awesome feature of this scarf is that it is reversible. Both the sides of the scarf look pretty.

The size of this scarf can be customized according to your choice. You can easily start with any number of stitches you want and finish off after reaching the required size needed. You can make them as regular style scarf with free ends or make them little longer and join both the ends to make them into infinity scarf to wrap around your neck twice. Add fringe or tassels to the ends to make them more pretty.

Materials Used:-
  • Cake Yarn
  • 4 mm Crochet Hook
Size:-
10 / 45 Inches - can be customized to any size

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 50.
This measures around 10 inches.
You can adjust the size of the scarf by altering these stitches according to your requirement.

Round 2:-
1 Double Crochet in the 2nd Chain from the hook.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge which I have been using this for most of my crochet projects.
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.(the first Double Crochet)
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.

Round 3:-
1 Back Post Double Crochet.
1 Front Post Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat(1BPDC, 1FPDC)
1 Double Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 2.
Use the Straight Turning Chain method mentioned in the previous round at the end of each round.

Round 4:-
1 Back Post Double Crochet.
1 Front Post Double Crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat(1BPDC, 1FPDC)
1 Double Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 2 and Use the Straight Turning Chain method.

This round may vary if your stitch count is different.

Just Remember:-
  • Each stitch with each round will be alternate of the previous round.
  • If the stitch in the previous round is a Back Post Double Crochet, then make a Front Post Double Crochet , if it’s a Front Post Double Crochet, then make a Back Post Double Crochet.
  • End each round with a Double Crochet.

Round 5 Onwards:-
Keep Repeating and alternating the Back Post and Front Post Double Crochets with each round untill the size needed.
Weave off the yarn ends at the end.
