How Do You Make a Easy Crochet Plaid Blanket

Crochet Plaid patterns are so much versatile and fun to work with. Usually the plaid pattern is made up of two or more colors criss crossing each other. You can make wonderful crochet projects with the plaid pattern such as Crochet Blankets , Cushion covers, Dish clothes, Placemats , scarves and many more.

Today am sharing the pattern for a very Easy Crochet Plaid Blanket. This blanket is made with Crochet Plaid stitch. The stitches are made with a combination of Double Crochets and Chain stitches which gives a lovely texture and plaid look to the blanket. The stitch works up very fast and its a great blanket for beginner crocheters too. This would also make lovely handmade gifts. If you are on the hunt for a quick DIY gift , then look no further. Let's Start...!!!

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 100 (i.e. 96 Chains + 3 Chains Extra + 1 Chain for the turning chain)
This measures around 30 inches.
You can adjust the size of the blanket by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any multiple of 6 + 3 Chains Extra + 1 Chain for the turning chain.

Round 2:-
1 Single Crochet in the Second Chain from the hook.
1 Single Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first slip stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.

Round 3:-
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.(that's total 3 Double Crochets)
Chain 3.
Skip the next 3 stitches.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
Repeat(Chain 3, Skip 3, (1DC*3))
Once you reach the end , Chain 4 and turn your project.

Round 4:-
Skip the starting 3 Double Crochets and start working the Chain 3 Space.
But instead of making the stitches in the Chain 3 space, we will be making the stitches on top of the 3 Single Crochets from the previous round.
1 Double Crochet each in the 3 Single Crochets from the previous round.(yarn over and pull the loop through the whole stitch, i.e . including the Chain 3)
Chain 3.
Repeat(Skip 3, ((1DC*3)- in the previous round), Chain 3)
Once you reach the end  make the last Chain 3 and make 1 Single Crochet in the last stitch Use Straight Edge Turning Chain method mentioned in Round 2 to make the turning chain.- Be sure to make the Turning Double Crochet stitch in the previous round.

Round 5:-
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Double Crochet each in the next 2 stitches.(that's total 3 Double Crochets)
Chain 3.
Skip the next 3 stitches.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
Repeat(Chain 3, Skip 3, (1DC*3))
Once you reach the end , Chain 4 and turn your project.

Round 6 Onwards:-
Keep Repeating Round 4 and Round 5 untill you reach the size needed.
