Textured Criss Cross Crochet Blanket Pattern


Crochet Blankets with textured look are the best to make. Not only are they visually appealing , the textured stitches add bulk and volume to the finished crochet blanket. I love making Textured Crocheted Blankets. Crochet Blankets are always the best choice to make as gifts for your loved ones. They are even better when you make one for yourself.

Today am sharing the pattern for Textured Criss Cross Crochet Blanket. This is a easy pattern made with repeated rows. The textured look of the blanket is made with Front Post stitches. If you are looking out for a quick blanket pattern to make, then you can definitely start working on this pattern.




Materials Used:-
6 Ply Cotton Yarn 
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
36 inches- Customizable to any size

Let's Start:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 100 + 1 Chain for the turning Chain.
This measures around 36 inches.
You can adjust the size of the blanket by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any multiple of 2 + 1  chain extra for the turning chain.



Round 2:-
1 Double Crochet in the Second Chain from the hook.
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.








Round 3:-
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning chain method mentioned in the previous round to make the turning chain.





Round 4:-
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.
1 Front Post Treble Crochet into each of the next 2 stitches from 1 Row below.
Repeat (1DC*2 , 1FPTrbl*2-in the stitch from 1 row below) 
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning chain method to make the turning chain.

How to make a Front Post Treble Crochet??...here it is.....!!
  • Yarn over hook twice, Insert the hook under the stitch i.e from the front of the stitch to the back of the stitch and  Pull up a loop(4 loops on hook). 
  • Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops remain on hook). 
  • Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook).
  • Yarn over, pull 2 loops on hook (1 treble crochet complete).









Round 5:-
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning chain method to make the turning chain.




Round 6:-
(1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain)
1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.
1 Front Post Treble Crochet into the 2nd FPTrbl from 1 Row below.
1 Front Post Treble Crochet into the 1st FPTrbl from 1 Row below.
Repeat (1DC*2 , (1FPTrbl-in the 2nd FPTrbl from 1 row below) ,(1FPTrbl-in the 1st FPTrbl from 1 row below))
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning chain method to make the turning chain.








Round 7 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 5 and Round 6 untill the size needed and weave off.





Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-

Round 4:-
(1 DC is already made while making the turning Ch)
1 DC in the next St.
1 FPTrbl into each of the next 2 Sts from 1 Row below.
Repeat (1DC*2 , 1FPTrbl*2-in the St from 1 row below) 
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch method to make the turning Ch.

How to make a FPTrbl??...here it is.....!!
Yarn over hook twice, Insert the hook under the St i.e from the front of the St to the back of the St and  Pull up a loop(4 loops on hook). 
Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (3 loops remain on hook). 
Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook).
Yarn over, pull 2 loops on hook (1 treble crochet complete).

Round 5:-
(1 DC is already made while making the turning Ch)
1 DC each in the remaining Sts.
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch method to make the turning Ch.

Round 6:-
(1 DC is already made while making the turning Ch)
1 DC in the next St.
1 FPTrbl into the 2nd FPTrbl from 1 Row below.
1 FPTrbl into the 1st FPTrbl from 1 Row below.
Repeat (1DC*2 , (1FPTrbl-in the 2nd FPTrbl from 1 row below) ,(1FPTrbl-in the 1st FPTrbl from 1 row below))
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch method to make the turning Ch.

Round 7 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 5 and Round 6 untill the size needed and weave off.
