How To Crochet Puff Heart Square Coaster

I love making Crochet Coasters. They are the most easiest and quick working projects. Its relaxing to make a Crochet Coaster pattern when you want to take a break after making a big project. They are great a Stash Busting Crochet Project. They are the perfect handmade accessory that make very thoughtful Gifts for your loved ones, be it any occasion.

Today am sharing the tutorial for How To Crochet Puff Heart Square Coaster. This is a one row repeat pattern , making it really easy and quick to whip up. You can easily make one in less than an Hour.

The Pattern is made with Puff Stitches and Double Crochets. The Puff Stitches worked together creates very cute Tiny Heart Pattern. Its perfect for adding them to your  Valentines Day Crochet Projects.

8 Ply Cotton Yarn 

4 mm Crochet Hook

Lets Start .... !!!

Round 1:-

Start with a Slip Knot.

Chain 28 + 1  Chain Extra for the Turning Chain.

You can adjust the size by altering these stitches according to your requirement.

Start with any multiple of 2 + 1  Chain Extra for the turning chain. 

Round 2:-

1 Double Crochet in the Second Chain from the hook.

1 Double Crochet each in the remaining stitches.

Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method to make the turning chain.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-

Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge which I have been using this for most of my crochet projects.

• Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
• Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
• Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
• Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
• Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
• Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
• This will make one Double Crochet.

Round 3:-

1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain

1 Double Crochet each in the next 2 Stitches.

Skip 2.

2 Puff Stitches in the next stitch.

Skip 2.

1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.

Skip 2.

Repeat(2 Puff Sts, Sk2, 1DC in the next 3Sts, Sk2)

Once reach the end,, Use the Straight Turning Chain method mentioned in the previous round to make the turning chain.

How To make a Puff Stitch......??:-

1. First pull up the yarn on the hook to a height of a double crochet.
2. Yarn Over, insert hook in the same stitch and pull up a loop. Do not complete the stitch(3 loops on the hook)
3. Again, Yarn Over, insert hook in the same stitch and pull up a loop.(5 Loops on the hook).
4. Yarn Over, insert hook in the same stitch and pull up a loop.(7 loops on the hook).
5. Lastly  Yarn Over, insert hook in the same stitch and pull up a loop.(9 loops on the hook).
6. To finish the Puff stitch, Yarn Over and Pull through all 9 loops.
7. Chain 1.
8. This completes 1 Puff Stitch.

Round 4:-

1 Double Crochet is already made while making the turning chain

1 Double Crochet each in the next 2 Stitches.

2 Puff Stitches in-between the Puff Stitches from the previous round.

Repeat((1DC)*3 , 2 Puff Sts in between the Puff Sts)

Once you reach the end , Use the Straight Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain.

Round 5 Onwards:-

Repeat Round 4 untill its square in shape or untill the size needed.

Border:-

1 Double Crochet is already made with the Turning Chain.

1 Double Crochet in each of the remaining stitches and weave off.

Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-

1DC each in the next 2 Sts.

Sk2.

2Puff Sts in the next St.

Sk2.

1DC each in the next 3 Sts.

Sk2.

Repeat(2 Puff Sts, Sk2, 1DC in the next 3Sts, Sk2)

Once reach the end,, Use the Straight Turning Ch method mentioned in the previous round to make the turning Ch.

How To make a Puff St......??:-

1st pull up the yarn on the hook to a height of a double crochet.

YO, insert hook in the same St and pull up a loop. Do not complete the St(3 loops on the hook)

Again, YO, insert hook in the same St and pull up a loop.(5 Loops on the hook).

YO, insert hook in the same St and pull up a loop.(7 loops on the hook).

Lastly  YO, insert hook in the same St and pull up a loop.(9 loops on the hook).

To finish the Puff St, YO and Pull through all 9 loops.

Ch 1.

This completes 1 Puff St.

Round 4:-

1DC is already made while making the turning Ch

1DC each in the next 2 Sts.

2Puff Sts in-between the Puff Sts from the previous round.

Repeat((1DC)*3 , 2 Puff Sts in between the Puff Sts)

Once you reach the end , Use the Straight Turning Ch method to make the Turning Ch.

Round 5 Onwards:-

Repeat Round 4 untill its square in shape or untill the size needed.

Border:-

1DC is already made with the Turning Ch.

1DC in each of the remaining Sts and weave off.
