Quick and Easy Crochet Long Table Runner


Nothing beats the charm of a handcrafted project to decorate your home. A Handcrafted Crochet Table Runner is a splendid way to add a little bit of personal touch to your dining or coffee table. A handmade table runner adds a special touch of beauty  and your own creativity to your dining space.

Today am sharing the pattern for a Quick and Easy Crochet Long Table Runner. The pattern is very easy to crochet and you can make them in any size and color of your need to suit any decor and occasion. This patterns uses only the basic crochet stitches making it a beginner friendly project.




Materials Used:-
4 Ply Cotton  Knitting Yarn 
4 mm Crochet Hook

Size:-
Base - 8 inches - Customizable to any size
Length - Customizable to any size

Ch - Chain
DC - Double Crochet
St/Sts - Stitch/Stitches
YO - Yarn Over
Sk - Skip

Let's Start:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 40 +1 Chain extra for the Turning Chain.
You can adjust the size by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any Multiple of 5 + 1 Chain extra for the Turning Chain.

Round 2:-
1 Double Crochet in the  5th Chain from the hook.
1 Double Crochet  each in the next 2 stitches.
Chain 2.
Skip 2 Stitches.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
Chain 2.
Skip 2.
Repeat(1DC*3,Ch2,Sk2)
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain.

Straight Edge Turning Chain:-
Usually you would Chain 2, turn and start working the next round. Here is a quick tip to have a nice straight edge .
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.
  • Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.
  • Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
  • This will make one Double Crochet.

Round 3 :-
1 Double Crochet  is already made with the Turning Chain.
1 Double Crochet each into the next 2 Stitches
2 Double Crochets into the Chain 2 Space.
Repeat(1DC *3,2DC into the Ch2 space)
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method mentioned in the previous round to make the Turning Chain.

Round 4:-
1 Double Crochet  is already made with the Turning Chain.
1 Double Crochet  each in the next 2 stitches.
Chain 2.
Skip 2 Stitches.
1 Double Crochet each in the next 3 stitches.
Chain 2.
Skip 2.
Repeat(1DC*3,Ch2,Sk2)
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method to make the Turning Chain.

Round 5:-
1 Double Crochet  is already made with the Turning Chain.
1 Double Crochet each into the next 2 Stitches
2 Double Crochets into the Chain 2 Space.
Repeat(1DC *3,2DC into the Ch2 space)
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Chain method  to make the Turning Chain.

Round 6 Onwards :-
Keep Repeating Round 4 and Round 5 untill the size needed.

To end the table runner Finish Off with a Repeat of Round 4 and Weave off.

Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

This will make one Double Crochet.

Round 3 :-
1DC  is already made with the Turning Ch.
1DC each into the next 2 Sts
2DCs into the Ch 2 Space.
Repeat(1DC *3,2DC into the Ch2 space)
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch method mentioned in the previous round to make the Turning Ch.

Round 4:-
1DC  is already made with the Turning Ch.
1DC  each in the next 2 Sts.
Ch 2.
Sk 2 Sts.
1DC each in the next 3 Sts.
Ch 2.
Sk 2.
Repeat(1DC*3,Ch2,Sk2)
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch method to make the Turning Ch.

Round 5:-
1DC  is already made with the Turning Ch.
1DC each into the next 2 Sts
2DCs into the Ch 2 Space.
Repeat(1DC *3,2DC into the Ch2 space)
Once you reach end, Ch 2 and use the Straight Edge Turning Ch method  to make the Turning Ch.

Round 6 Onwards :-
Keep Repeating Round 4 and Round 5 untill the size needed.
To end the table runner Finish Off with a Repeat of Round 4 and Weave off.
