Using a Yarn needle, make running stitches on top of one opening and pull the yarn to gather up and close the opening.
Stuff the pumpkin with fiber fill. You can use saved up yarn ends and scrap yarn as stuffing in place of fiber fill.
Repeat the same on the other opening too and close the opening.
Leave a long tail for shaping the pumpkin.
Shaping :-
Use the needle to pull the tail through the center of the pumpkin so that you can wrap the yarn around the side, and pull back through the center.

Repeat this five to six more times to create evenly spaced indents around the pumpkin.
If you wish you can increase the number of indents.

I can't wait to try it. I might make it larger. Most patterns don't include a stem pattern. They just use a stick. I much prefer the stem pattern you have created. Thank you for sharing!!
